Hi everyone it me 😊. John at Thesoundofonehandtyping has invited me to join him at Monday’s Music Moves Me which is sponsored by Marie, Cathy, Alana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.
I am not sure if I have the theme right but John has done the days of the week so I have followed suit. I have thrown in a few songs that list every weekday and for measure I think most of them are danceable….. Plus I think some of the lyrics are fun . So thanks to John and the Ladies here I am 💜💜💜 I hope you enjoy and I have got the idea right.
Fleet feet fly like Autumn leaves scurrying and hurrying by. They dance the harvest jig, the witches fandango, the end of year polka. The seasons girate and spin Mother Nature is dancing.
The Sijo, a Korean form believed to have first been used in the fourteenth century. It is similar in structure to various Japanese forms such as Haiku. As with many forms of poetry, the Sijo became a preferred poetry form of the yangban or ruling class as well as royalty. They were written in Chinese and were originally short songs set to music. The focus of the Sijo is usually nature and contemplation. We’ll try that to begin with.
You should use the word in the title of this post as your inspiration as either a theme of the Sijo or in the poem itself.
Today Bee has asked us to choose our own prompt. Well I love a good cross over and here is one of my favourites. No I love all sorts of music but this fusion of classical and Indian music and dance is I think delightful. Plus it has a lovely romantic ending… Oh! It’s just so colourful and happy!
Shine is the second album released by the classical crossover string quartetBond. It peaked at No. 26 on the UK Albums Chart, and went Gold in six countries. While it peaked at No. 61 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart, it spent five consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Classical Crossover charts. Bond described the album as having “slightly more ethnic undertones” than their first album.
Its Saturday again and time for Stream of Consciousness Saturday! This week LindaGhill, our lovely host has said. “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “mash.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!“
Smash is a brand of Instant mashed potatoes in the United Kingdom. It was launched in the United Kingdom in the 1960s by Cadbury, which was primarily a manufacturer of confectionery at the time. Smash was reasonably successful.
However, it was not until 1974 that Smash became popular in the convenience food market after Cadbury launched an advertising campaign by agency Boase Massimi Pollitt featuring the Smash Martians, who would watch humans preparing mashed potato the traditional way on television instead of using potato granules, and laugh at them.
The adverts of 1970s and their catchphrase, ‘For Mash get Smash’, were voted television advert of the century by Campaign Magazine, and second-best television advert of all time in a poll of April 2000 conducted by The Sunday Times and Channel 4, beaten by Guinness‘ Surfer advertisement from 1999.
The brand has since been sold by Cadbury and is now owned by Premier Foods who, using their Batchelors brand, launched a ‘healthier recipe’ version in 2006. More information here.
You can buy it still and lots of people love it! Personally I can’t stand it ….it has to be real potato for me especially Mash!

Then there is the song and dance from Dee Dee Sharp.
“Mashed Potato Time” is a single written and composed by Kal Mann and Bernie Lowe, and performed by Dee Dee Sharp on her debut album It’s Mashed Potato Time. The song refers to the Mashed Potato dance move which was a fad at the time. It was one of several that came out at that time, for example, “(Do the) Mashed Potatoes” in 1960. The Marvelettes song “Please Mr. Postman” is mentioned in the lyrics and is copied in the arrangement. Also mentioned in the lyrics, are the songs “Lion Sleeps Tonight” by the Tokens, and “Dear Lady Twist”, by Gary US Bonds. Dee Dee Sharp did a follow up sequel to “Mashed Potato Time”, with “Gravy” (On the Mashed Potato). In 1996 the Campbell Soup Company used the song in a $30 million advertising campaign, and commissioned a new, more upbeat recording from Dee Dee Sharp.
Well now we need to bring in a video clip to bring together, the Smash / Mash the food, and the Smash hit and dance Mash potato time.. a MASH UP shall we say?
You may, if you wish, make some kind of link between the Haiku Challenge prompt of (CHIRP and Twilight). and this Décima Challenge of SHOCK in the D rhyme line. This means you could write a haiku post using the prompt words. Then do a Décima post using this week’s prompt uniting the two with a common message. Here is a link to my Haiku.
The 2 CHALLENGES are SEPARATE but CAN BE combined if YOU CHOOSE to do so. I choose to combine them.

As twylight falls he comes to me His cold touch stirs my broken soul. Lust begs he devour me whole. Grateful we share Mortality. We’re coupled for eternity. Willingly I bend to his will. He draws blood I enjoy it still. Bodies joined in macabre dance. Pleasuring each other we prance. In ecstasy our screams are shrill.

Dancing in my head
“Your stuck with curvature You’ll never look the same. So you better make friends with that pain.”
Looking out the window I heard the words they said But I was miles away dancing in my head .
When I get upset, not feeling free. In rain, sun or snow . Those words come back to haunt me . So into my head I go.
When I feel pushed and pressured All I can think of is the words they said. I close my eyes and bugger them,
I go dancing in my head!
When looking in the mirror is too much to bare My clothes look like something I shouldn’t wear. I close my eyes and let the music flow. Then dancing in my head I go.
When pain is over baring and I can’t get out of bed I close my eyes and bugger them I go dancing in my head.
I am still the me I was before.
Though not quite the same. When I am at my worst I play my saving game. I am sorry if you think me rude and blanch at things I’ve said.
But when it all becomes too much I go dancing in my head.
So don’t judge me by my cover I am still a happy soul. I may not be perfect but I am whole. When things get too much and depressions wanting fed. Bugger it I shout and go dancing in my head
