Musical Themes : Colours

Todays theme is Colours and was picked by, don’t miss his entry and those of and

So here we go my kalidoscope of colours!

Yellow is the colour : “Colours” is a song written and recorded by British singer-songwriter Donovan.
The “Colours” single was released in the United Kingdom on May 28, 1965 through Pye Records (Pye 7N 15866)
and a few months later in the United States through Hickory Records (Hickory 45-1324). The “Colours” single
was backed with “To Sing for You” (previously included on What’s Bin Did and What’s Bin Hid) on the United Kingdom
release and “Josie” (from What’s Bin Did and What’s Bin Hid) on the United States release.

Paint It Black” is a song released by The Rolling Stones on 13 May 1966 as the first single from the US version of
their fourth album Aftermath. Although originally titled without a comma, the release version was styled “Paint It, Black”. Keith Richards has stated that the comma was added by the record label, Decca.
The song was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Mick Jagger wrote the lyrics and Keith Richards wrote the music.
Bill Wyman claims in his books that the song was a group effort although it was credited to Jagger/Richards.
The single reached number one in both the United States and the United Kingdom charts in 1966. In 2004 it was ranked  number 176 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In the US and UK, it was the first number one single to feature a sitar.

Fields of gold Eva Cassidy : Though I have picked the Eva Cassidy version “Fields of Gold” is a 1993 song by Sting from his album Ten Summoner’s Tales. “Fields of Gold” and all the other album tracks were recorded at Lake House, Wiltshire, mixed at The Townhouse Studio, London, England and mastered at Masterdisk, New York. The harmonica solo is played by Brendan Power, and the Northumbrian smallpipes are played by Kathryn Tickell. The music video was directed by Kevin Godley. ( of Godley and Creme originally from 1066)

“Fields of Gold” was the second single released from the album after “If I Ever Lose My Faith in You”. The single reached No. 16 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart.
It was also a hit in many countries including Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland and many others.
The song was included in Sting’s first compilations album issued by Sting under the title Fields of Gold: The Best of  Sting 1984–1994 and released in 1994 and in a later compilation The Very Best of Sting & The Police in 1997.
It was also re-recorded by Sting in 2006 as a bonus track for his classical album Songs from the Labyrinth, whereby the song was accompanied entirely by a lute.

Whiter Shade of Pale sung here by Annie lennox : “A Whiter Shade of Pale” is the debut single by the
English rock band Procol Harum, released 12 May 1967. The record reached number one in the UK Singles
Chart on 8 June 1967, and stayed there for six weeks.Without much promotion, it reached No. 5 on the US
charts, as well. One of the anthems of the 1967 Summer of Love, it is one of fewer than 30 singles to have sold over
10 million copies worldwide.
With its haunting Bach-derived instrumental melody, soulful vocals, and unusual lyrics—by the song’s
co-authors Gary Brooker,Keith Reid,and organist Matthew Fisher

Beatles Baby’s in Black :”Baby’s in Black” is a song by the Beatles,
co-written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The song appears on the United Kingdom album Beatles for Sale
and in North America on Beatles ’65.

T Rex Ride a White Swan :”Ride a White Swan” is a song by the British underground (and later glam rock) act T. Rex
which became their first hit single in 1970. Like all of the band’s songs, it was written by the group’s singer,
guitarist and founder Marc Bolan.
When Bolan died in a car crash in 1977, a mourner paid tribute to Bolan by laying a large swan made of flowers
among the floral tributes on display at Golders Green Crematorium in North London, where his funeral was held.
The song is one of many T. Rex tracks which feature in the film Billy Elliot.

counting crow big yellow taxi :”Big Yellow Taxi” is a song written and originally recorded by Joni Mitchell in 1970.
It was a hit in her native Canada (No. 14) as well as Australia (No. 6) and the UK (No. 11). It only reached No. 67
in the US in 1970, but was later a bigger hit there for her in a live version released in 1975, which peaked at No. 24.
Charting versions have also been recorded by The Neighborhood (who had the original top US 40 hit with the track in 1970,
peaking at No. 29), Maire Brennan, Amy Grant and Counting Crows.

Adam Young 99 red balloons was written by Gabriele Susanne Kerner (born 24 March 1960), better known by her stage name
Nena, is a German singer and actress. She rose to international fame in 1983 with the New German Wave song “99 Luftballons”.
In 1984, she re-recorded this song in English as “99 Red Balloons”. Nena was also the name of the band with whom she
released the song. With the re-recording and subsequent release of some of her old songs, her career re-emerged in 2002.
In 2007, she co-founded the school “Neue Schule Hamburg”.

Blue Bayou Linda Ronstat Blue Bayou” is the title of a classic hit song written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson
and sung by Orbison. It later became Linda Ronstadt’s signature song.

Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White – Pérez PradoTrumpet Solo By Sal Grippaldi (Redsal09)
WMV and Info by Robert Silvestri:

Blue Jay way “Blue Jay Way” is a song written by George Harrison; it was first recorded and released
by the Beatles on their Magical Mystery Tour album and EP in 1967.The name of the song comes from a street located high
in the Hollywood Hills West, Los Angeles overlooking Sunset Strip where George Harrison rented a house at Blue Jay Way
during August 1967. The home affords panoramic views of Hollywood and much of the Los Angeles Basin. It is located on a
hillside of narrow, winding roads, difficult to navigate on a foggy night — thus creating the backdrop for the opening
lines of the song:”There’s a fog upon L.A., and my friends have lost their way.”

Green Earing steely Dan The Royal Scam is the fifth album by Steely Dan, originally released by ABC Records in 1976.
The album went gold and peaked at #15 on the charts. The Royal Scam features more prominent guitar work than other
Steely Dan albums. Guitarists on the recording include Walter Becker, Denny Dias, Larry Carlton, Elliott Randall and
Dean Parks.
The mood of the album stands in contrast with the band’s more mellow and hugely successful follow-up, Aja.
In common with other Steely Dan albums, The Royal Scam is littered with cryptic allusions to people and events both real
and fictional. In a BBC interview in 2000,[2] Becker and Fagen revealed that “Kid Charlemagne” is loosely based on
Augustus Owsley Stanley, the notorious drug “chef” who was famous for manufacturing hallucinogenic compounds, and that
“Caves of Altamira” is about the loss of innocence, the narrative about a visitor to the Cave of Altamira who registers
his astonishment at the prehistoric drawings.

Red Shoes Kate Bush is the seventh studio album by the British musician Kate Bush. Released in November
1993, it was accompanied by Bush’s short film, The Line, the Cross and the Curve, and was her last album before taking
a 12-year hiatus. The album peaked at no.2 in the UK album chart and has been certified Platinum by the BPI for over
300,000 copies shipped. In the US, the album reached #28, her highest chart position there to date.

THE CARPENTERS – RAINBOW CONNECTION “Rainbow Connection” is a song written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher and
originally performed by the character of Kermit the Frog (Jim Henson) in The Muppet Movie in 1979.

Snow White Queen – Evanescence
Snow white queen evanescence Snow White Queen” was inspired after Lee had experiences with stalkers.
She stated, “My privacy had been completely invaded and there were a couple of nights where I couldn’t
stay at my house. So I wrote a song about it through the eyes of the stalker, and with my perspective, too.
Entertainment Weekly’s Jon Dolan found similarities between the song and Tori Amos’ “Me and a Gun”. It uses
several industrial beats into its composition.
Amy sings her lowest note in this song during the line: “Can’t escape the twisted way you think of me.”

Music Themes — New Theme For Tomorrow

Autumn Annie is back!

The wind is whipping up  her gown, playing with her hair.

The rustling leaves  sing their songs as they skip past her.

Her warm gold ribbons looped loosely  through her lusty rusty locks.

Enough to excite the farmers boys up and  at their work early, with the noisy cocks.

The Butterflies bid her farewell  though sad they know it’s time to go .

Summer has fled and though still fleetingly warm it won’t last  long they know.

Something prickly round her toes makes her squeal  with sweet surprise

It is a snuffling hedgehog he is looking for a place to sleep away from prying eyes.

She smelt  the bonfires ,saw  the smoke,  felt the chill fingering her back.

Knowing  Jack Frost was on his way was pleasing for he was such  good crack.

People started rushing home instead of strolling through the park

Children have to come in earlier from play because it is getting dark!

Who is she this beautiful waif , this brown eyed red haired  beauty

Of course it is Autumn Annie, here to do her seasonal duty

To gently wave off  Susie Summer and  warmly welcome Winter Wanda

Yes  she brings the fog and wind and  makes the days short and the nights grow longer !

NaPoWriMo,Day28,BLUE, GOLD.

NaPoWriMo Day 28 : Today’s prompt is to pick a color. How many synonyms are there for your color (e.g., green, chartreuse, olive, veridian)? Is your color associated with a specific mood (e.g., red = passion, rage, blue = hope, truth). Look around the room, take a walk — note everything you see that is your chosen color.

I have chosen to chose two colours, Blue and Yellow/Gold, first poem is Blue and the second shorter poem is Gold.

Tears burn in these eyes so blue,

Like the azure sky , and deep, deep sea

That separates a sad me from you.

My soul strains to escape and to you flee.

The royal blue of my lustrous gown

Dark and stark lit by creamy pearls

Oh! in each other we felt that we would drown

You remove my hood and watched my hair as  it unfurls.

Apart now with miles between us I stand alone

My heart is broken and I am so blue

I remember watching  as off into the blue you had flown

I search the midnight skies in vein hope of sight of you

Gold, warm  and glorious we run hand in hand

Feet skipping , daring not to linger too long on the hot golden sand

Sunshine yellow and  red flimsy bikini rocks

Sun hats covering tender pink skin and fair blonde locks.

Golden sun kissed skin , tall and dark eyes sparkling

Warm,shimmering ,glinting golden yellow horizon!
