Light Colours My dream place Where my mind’s ease Lifts me, to gentle space Perfume heady take my mind home To a kinder time, happy and carefree Pastel soft my mood lightens as memories flood Murmurs in my ears, flowers in my hands Time slips by like hourglass sand I meld into this place Remove the years Grateful, tired I find Peace
Mum always said that when the Autumn winds blow, we need our vests, sun or no. These days in winds keen I realise what she did mean. Laves swirl and dance as chill days advance. So I wrap up warm.
Its Tuesday again and time for Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge. Colleen says “Hello everyone. Happy September! This week, choose your own syllabic form and a color to feature in your syllabic poem. Think about the different ways you can use color in a poem.”
I have chosen a Tanka today. As I am going to a wedding later this week I have used it loosely as my subject. My colours are red and white.
Here we are for another #TankaTuesday poetry challenge! Bought to us by Colleen Chesebro, this week it’s a Theme prompt selected this week by Harmony
This month’s theme is: “The Longest Day”
I chose to write a Diatelle but with a cheat.
The Diatelle is a fun, syllable counting form like the etheree with a twist. The syllable structure of the diatelle is as follows: 1/2/3/4/6/8/10/12/10/8/6/4/3/2/1, but unlike an ethere, has a set rhyme pattern of abbcbccaccbcbba. This poetry form may be written on any subject matter and looks best center aligned in a diamond shape.
She Rises Too early For me flashing Throwing her glory round Like a cloak of many colours Gold, red and pink she blinds me with her light Her warmth already fierce yet she will run the course. By noon she has all but the mad beaten. As afternoon spreads out she bakes us . Languid we hide in shade Evening she Wains, colours And heat Fade.
🌈 Taste the Rainbow refers to colors. You do not have to write about a rainbow in your poem. Just include a color in your poem. 🌈
I hsve chosen to write a Nonet. A Nonet poem has nine lines, with nine syllables in the first line decreasing to one syllable in the last line. The subject of my poem is Synaesthesia . Synaesthesia, the neurological condition that causes a blending of the senses – colours can be connected to letters and numbers, smells and tastes to music or touch to vision – has long been linked to creativity: famous synaesthetes include Sibelius and more recently Pharrell Williams and Lady Gaga.
Synaesthesia
The colours flew off of him like sparks. Warm hues of luxurious blue Cosy bright sunshine yellows White lines of energy Synesthesia Enhanced her. She Told him, he Said, me Too.
Nature paints a picture daily Rainbow of colours blown apart Thrown upon the alter of art Sping blossom bounces in gayly Her pastel colours sway palely Summer sails in all green and blue Autumn’s russet and golden too. Winter comes with a frozen lakes Silver frosts and dainty snowflakes. Our landscape refreshes daily.
