COLLEEN’S 2020 WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 198, #POET’SCHOICE

Colleen says : Guess what? It’s the first challenge for my favourite month of October… you know what that means! Poets, choose your own syllabic poetry form, theme, words, images, etc. It’s up to you.

NEW RULES: Let’s make this challenge a true poet’s choice! Use any syllabic poetry form that you’d like. As long as there are syllables to count, you’re ready! Be creative. If your form is something new, teach us how to write it. Have fun!

My choice this week is extra special as Colleen has given us free reign as to poetic form. I have chosen to put two together. An Acrostic Nonet.

The contents comes from deep within me. It could be read as a personal relationship, with either another person or thing, or as a lament to nature and our current world troubles.

Autumn Cry.

As always tapped under your control
Useless I am no longer whole
Tell me how I lost the light
Undone I’m caught in flight
Morning brings no hope
No kindness spoke
Cry freedom
Real needs
Yearn.

Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday

Colleen’s 2020 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 175, #ThemePrompt

This week we celebrate 🎉 the 175th edition of this wonderful prompt of Colleen Chesebro’s.

This week our prompt comes from Elizabeth, from Tea and Paper, chose the theme: ‘ The Day After’

I decided to write a Tanka today about a young person coming home from a binge night out. It can be read from top to bottom and bottom to top and means the same.

The Day after.

The Sun knows my game

Memory’s clouded, what’s his name

Home late walk of shame

Lesson,won’t do that again

Head is banging full of pain

This is my entry for Colleen Chesebro of The Fairy Whisper‘s blog Tuesday Tanka Challenge. I have written an Autumnal Cinquain and a Halloween Etheree.

Leaves fall

Softly, silent

Like phantoms in the mist

The del’s full of the spirit of

Autumn.

———–

Dense

The mist

Hallowed ground

Long dead spirits

Wake to move around

None have a beating heart

Nor a conscience to be found

All lost souls their bodies are void

Endless chill invades their empty souls

Their time is now Autmn and Halloween.

Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No. 104, Happy October – “Poets Choice of Words”

Today is the first of Colleen Chesebro‘s Tuesday Tanka Challenges this month and so we can pick our own words.

Rules and Pingback Here

Well I am going for an Etheree this week and as it is October of course it’s got to be ghostly. My words to be used Synonymously are Ghost and Purgatory.

Trapped

A soul

In torment

Banished always

From the light of love

Invisible, watching

Only heartache and deep pain

Endless agony no escape

All you can do is watch afar

Forgotten, unloved a tormented soul.
