Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 85: (STUFF(ed)) in the A rhyme line.

I am a week late with this one .

We are stuffed

This world has truly had enough
There’s no coming back from the edge.
We’re gone too far out on the ledge.
The rich just take and hoard their stuff
The rest of us just take the rough.
Where is the kindness, where’s the care
Rich live off the poor, that’s not fair.
Earth is tired of us parasites
Rich or poor to her we’re just mites.
Injustice just too much to bear.

Second Year of Witch Taming !

Every Year my friend’s daughter, who lives just up the road from me, puts on a fabulous Halloween display. The last two years she has had trouble with three particularly errant witches! They refuse to be assembled, light up or even dress properly. So I have been enlisted to sort them out. This year I had to take hubby along with me too, to fix the electronics. We were successful, it only took us two hours.

Now some of you may know I am shielding as I am waiting for an operation, (I have been shielding for over four months now….it gets very boring) So the whole family gave me a wide berth and came nowhere near hubby or I . It was definitely an interesting two hours 😂

Why was I asked to help, because I had been a window dresser in my youth.

Crisis at Christmas

I originally wrote this in December 2013 but it is still relevant so. Have revamped it a little. I make no apologies for repeating this poem most years.

I hope it won’t snow this Christmas

It’s one of my biggest fears.

It was so bitter last year even

Thinking of it makes me shed tear.

The homeless won’t be eating Turkey with all the trim

Unless they find a charity shelter which they can get in.

The people at the shelters are angels from up above

They give their time and plenty love.

They really are saviours they really do so much good.

They give warmth and comfort, dinner and even Christmas pud.

OH! why are they out here I hear you say.

There are lots of reasons, have you got all day?

Dave got made redundant the bills he couldn’t pay

So the bank stepped in and took his home away.

His wife could not stand the B&B that the social offered them

So she took the children off to live with her mum so Dave won’t see them again.

Jen, she was cheeky girl always having fun

Staying out late and playing up in the end it got too much for her mum!

After a big row one night in the summer she asked Jen to go,

So she is struggling alone out there. When your homeless it is amazing how fast your friends all go.

Rob well his story is very sad,

It all started with his drinking then he discovered drugs. He became violent and everything turned bad.

He fell out with his mother’s boyfriend who told him he had to go

And then threw him out into the December snow.

The reasons are legion you can take your pick,

People who loose their jobs because they became sick

From parents who can’t cope

To addictions that make you loose all hope,

Parents or family who beat you, family who will not stop at a touch

They want you to give them way too much.

This may all seem morbid this may all seem too sad

I hate to tell you all, things can be so very, very bad.

People young and old see their hopes and dreams unfold and vanish in clouds of smoke

As they end up on the streets lost and without any hope.

So enjoy your Christmas parties, your families and your Yule tide fare

But as you raise a toast remember the homeless ones out there .

YOU CAN DONATE OR HELP HERE

Lost Faith Found

Tell me hope what brings  you so low

What is  this grief  that has  brought you so.

Why  have you forsaken the meaning of  your name

Can you not see that brings on you the darkest  shame.

I am broken I am lost  I am too tired to go on

I carried the the world and its angst for too long.

Once my darling  Faith on my left did stand

Upon my right  was Charity who held my hand.

But why dear Hope have you given in.

Without you, despair and grief will win.

You cannot forsake this world

No matter the trials that at you are hurled.

I am exhausted I can not go on

Without Faith and Charity it all seems wrong.

I weep for  me and I weep for the world

I weep for my wings I can no longer unfurl.

Listen Hope you must  not loose Faith  or Charity

You  belong together, you make a trinity.

I believe that they are both near

You can reach them if you ignore  your fear.

I don’t know if I can trust you or if what you say is true .

Can you give me a sign, can you show  me what to do.

If Faith and Charity are near

Show  me how to bring them here

Here sweet Hope take  my hand

Feel who I am , then you will understand.

Put all your belief in me

Accept  my love and  Faith and Charity.

Please Hope  don’t  give in keep within the trinity

Find  strength in Faith,Hope and Charity.

HOPE FOR THE HOPELESS

Hurry hurry it is that time of year,

Buying presents planning meals, Christmas is drawing near.

Tinsel, fairies, Santa’s everywhere, tiny lights twinkle.

Hurry past her, close your eyes, tell yourself she’s okay

It is so easy to believe convenient lies and hope she will go away.

Don’t ever give her  a second thought.

What were the circumstances that, her to this corner brought.

How old is she? she does look young

but some of them play on that they work in gangs….Scum.

She does look cold, she needs a coat

She looks so hungry and tired. Is that a lump in your throat?

There are lots of souls like her around,

Sleeping in doorways and cardboard boxes in our cities and our towns.

Should you give her your coat or your change,  buy her a hot drink

You don’t want her to spend it on booze or drugs help her out, don’t you think?

This dilemma makes you feel sad well what can I say life can be bad!

She might be an angel she might be just be lost

But if you just helped her would that be too high a cost.

So spare a thought as you gather round your Christmas tree

With your Christmas treats for all your family,

For all those who are lost, sad, lonely, cold or in pain.

If you gave to a homeless charity you would not loose, just think of what you could gain .

BABY WHEN YOURE GONE

Guinness Book of Records attempt ? Did I hear that right. Yes, yes I had “do you want to join in? ” Do I, yes but I am no good at singing!

I was talking to my almost sister of 48yrs. We had been sisters in law for so then when her marriage disintegrated we stayed friends even stronger,  almost sisters as I said!

So lets get this straight the Rock Choir that she is in is taking part in an attempt to get the largest amount of people singing the same song at the same time.

The idea is that at the allotted hour tomorrow Rock Choirs linked around the country will be singing ‘Baby When Your Gone’ a Brian Adams song. A huge undertaking with crowd marshals and  Guinness Book of Records officials and referees !

Before I knew it I was saying yes : Right I had four days to learn the song and the bass part. This I approached with real zeal putting the song onto my iTunes and iPod! It accompanied me working around the house, to physiotherapy, the gym, shopping, walking . I have been eating , sleeping and drinking this song!

I have embarrassed myself and others bursting into song at the gym, in the supermarket and just walking in the street!

I have worked hard at learning the song and I really hope that I can do it justice tomorrow! We have all bought tickets to attend , that way we are raising money for a homeless charity, I do know which one at the moment I shall tell you all tomorrow when I know, rather than guess and be wrong.

I am wondering how long it will take to get the song out of my head after the event is over?? Will I be scarred for life!! I know one thing after my accident three years ago I never thought I would able to do half of what I have made myself relearn to do. But I have and I am quietly proud of what I have managed to achieve and I am really excited about tomorrow . So please all of you good friends of mine out there wish me luck for tomorrow. Oh! yes and my almost sister as she will be standing right next to me ( she is a member of the choir) having to listen to me! and guide me through the moves!!

Here is a youtube clip of one of the Rock Choirs, this is not the choir I shall be singing in but no doubt these ladies will be singing somewhere tomorrow at the same time as us!  Singing makes me happy and if we can help others in need all better the world needs to sing more and do it together!
