One Liner Wednesday: Bletchley Park, Churchill,
The Geese that laid the golden eggs but never cackled.
Churchill made the above statement about the people at Bletchley Park.
On Thursday this week we visited Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire where the Enigma and Lorenzo machines and codes were cracked during WW2.
The 8500 people at Bletchley and the 1500 who worked at the two outstations were all sworn to secrecy and many died with their secrets intactact.
The valiant work they did and the harsh conditions in which they worked and lived are no longer secret and so we were able to visit and see it all.
If it had not been for the brilliant minds and dedication of these men and women, who shortened the war by at least two years we may not be here or we may all of been speaking German. (As our guide told us. )
