The Predator

A predator lying in wait
Unaware the prey will bumble
It’s loud and often will mumble
Sadly unaware of its fate
Unknowingly it is the bait
Passing the chair still unaware
It’s nemeses is hidden there.
A yawn, a stretch a sharpened claw.
Preys struck, stumbles hits head on door.
Cat smiles, job done, she doesn’t care.

FoFanFeb : Two days in a life.

Hi I  know I do not often just talk to everyone,  yet it has been known. Maybe I am frightened  to be me in case I am not good enough  or just plain boring. But tonight here goes!

Yesterday I was out all day  shopping for my , as yet unborn grandchild. I went with a friend  luckily or I would of just bought one of everything I saw ! I was like a child in a sweet shop. Anyway after much thought  and lot of visits to lots of shops  we ended up in the shop  we started in  and bought  a “Baby grow bag” yup  it is  called a “baby grow bag” It is actually  a sort of sleeping bag  that does up at  the neck and the bottom! 2.5tog  would  you believe  then I bought a pair of navy trousers 6mths to 9months … honest, a navy  and white  knitted hoody , a navy and white hoody with a red lining, two bibs that match the grow bag and a first pair of shoes!

Shopping for the unborn newbie

It does not look much  but it was bought with love and care , hopefully it will not be the last things I will buy. The funny thing is shopping has  never been something that I enjoy  but yesterday I really enjoyed myself.

Today has been a really strange day I am still way behind  with all your amazing posts  but I do promise I am wading through them and will read all of them!

This morning started  well but then while my hubby was out on his walk I hear a terrible commotion  in the garden. The Magpies were going berserk. I rushed downstairs  and into the kitchen looking out of the window I saw  that the sparrow hawk had a pigeon and was viciously attacking it.

I charged out into the garden shout at the hawk to “get ” but it was not afraid of me . I ran right up to it and  stamped  the ground. The darn  bird reared up at me and arched it’s wings over the pigeon.  I tried  for about 5mins  to save the pigeon. Then exhausted upset and crying I had to give up. At  some point the sparrow hawk left leaving behind a seriously wounded pigeon  on the lawn. ( the picture below is taken from the net to show you all what it looks like)

Hubby returned , he has a great love  of all animals  and really  he should  of been a Buddhist, honestly  he would not knowingly harm a fly. He was horror struck , we did not know what  to do for the best. Unfortunately the bird was not dead, I say  unfortunately  because  it must of been in great pain. “What shall I do” ask hubby well I told I knew what we should do but neither of us was capable of doing that.

We  ended up covering it with a box to protect it and help it rest and maybe recover. Then our middle son came round for a visit and we had coffee and I cooked him some breakfast, while I was doing that  the sparrow hawk returned  , swine, looking for it’s meal. Thank goodness  we had it protected under the box.

After much discussion and searching on Google ( by Hubby) it was decided  to box up the pigeon put the box in the old cat carrier  and take it to a bird rescue  center near us. ( it actually said ‘we are bird friendly’ I had to go to town to do a few things  so hubby went on his own .

When I got home from town I found hubby  and middle son deep in discussion .  The lady at  the rescue had  said  she would give the pigeon some painkiller ( thank goodness) and then take it to the vets.  It was all dependent on if the wounds would heel . Hubby gave them the cat carrier, they seemed delighted about that and he also gave them a donation.  He said there were lots of birds there including a large Raven  who had  been a hairs width from his ear at one point! So we can ring in a week or so to see if our guy survives. I like to think that as he survived a prolong attack, being under a box for a couple of hours , being handle  and then driven to the rescue  and he was still alive I think the little guy  will make it. I think he wants to live.

So it is fingers crossed that pigeon survives, and fingers crossed I have not bored  you all to death or sleep. Tomorrow is another day starting with Pilates and hopefully  sometime  to spend on wordpress.  Be well be happy  and be patient  with me.

WE MUST NOT FORGET THE LIVING.

I wrote these two poems 2 years ago but I am going to re post it again today. Remember the dead Yes but remember the living too!  and Death from the sky.

######################################################

They could of not of known when they woke up how they their day would pan out. They had no idea that their life would never be the same .Their world simple, no longer safe and with no doubt.

They all boarded the plane, the train, the bus the car some even walked. They all followed the pattern of life they could not know what was to be. They greeted the news vender, bought coffee met friends, talked.

Arriving at the airport, the fire station, the precinct building, the hospital or paramedic  station,  the office whatever or they waived them off before taking the kids to school, all for the last time ever.

They knew they were different they had planned this for months, they knew exactly what they wanted to do. They wanted to kill they were not like the others that morning. They were not like me or you.

2,752 souls

It all started out so ordinarily boring even nothing different or new God knows what was in their minds as in to the targets their captors  flew. The people at work taken unaware those in the street stood mesmerized as they watch the ball of flame from which the black smoke rose.

The fire crews , police and paramedics

were scramble and into action flew when the news came that there was another plane flying into the other tower, yes two!

Helicopters police and news crews where there trying to rescue a few but even if they could of reached the roof with all that smoke what could they do.

The day had been unremarkable when the air controllers watching over Washington’s  skies saw a plane on course for the Pentagon OH! God it happened in front of them death en route  before their very eyes.

184 souls

The people on the plane suffered the same as their fellow passengers in New York  not all of the souls on the ground perished thankfully some lived and walked. The dark and heat and the choking acrid smell must of been so terrifically shocking in fact it must of been like hell.

Who knows where the passengers on the fourth plane found the fortitude and the strength, with the crew they decided to fight back. They tried their very hardest to avert this evil hijack . They phoned friends and loved ones and told them all to be brave, then they all gave their lives for they wanted another city from an air crash to be saved

Both heros and hijackers all dead

They couldn’t of known what was before them when they all set forth on that morn . No one in the world would ever of thouht how a nations heart would be ripped and torn. We grieve for those on the aeroplanes we grieve for those on the ground we grieve for the keepsakes that were lost not all of them found.

Remember those souls today, carry your stories in your heart think of the innocents airborne and grounded their lives all blow apart .

Don’t forget as you think of them today the many, many heroes and heroines who found strength to help on that day. The police, firemen, paramedics who picked up illnesses  from the smoke debris and detritus that engulfed them , they could not get out of the way. The doctors and the nurses who worked like the others till they dropped on their feet and don’t forget the ordinary good souls who help they were minutes before passers by on the street.

So God Bless the Dead and their families we will never forget them, but spare a thought for your cities’ heroes and heroines some of them ill and suffering yet . God Bless the services of  Stonycreek  Township and Shanksville Pennsylvania  and Washington and New York. They all worked so hard and selflessly and that is what makes it so unfair, they, whilst working in the dust, metal spray and smoke clouds their lungs were damaged by the air.

So God Bless the living  make their suffering less, we will always remember you as you did your very best. And so to all the families I can not equate your loss , the secretaries and colleagues drinking buddies or the boss, it is the same for all of you let our thoughts and prayers help you carry on.

DEATH FROM THE SKY

Twin Towers

Two Towers stood by the water , they were tall and they were strong. People thought that they were safe and within their walls they would throng. Sadly though for all their beauty, people  were so wrong. Two thousand , seven hundred and fifty two souls perished on that September day. Two planes, death in the sky , homed in on the towers and all the souls on the planes knew  that they would also die.

They were not alone a plane headed into Washington and the Pentagon found. One hundred and eighty four perished there, smashed into the ground. There was even another plane on an evil errand  the good souls on that flight attacked their captors and brought them down in a field in Pennsylvania.  All souls lost their lives.

The killing has not stopped and will not for a long time yet for many are still suffering . The deadly dust that came from the towers frightful collapse was full of deadly things. So say say a prayer for those who died that day and remember those who still are suffering.

Let them and their families know that we shall not forget.
