K.L.Caley’s #writephoto: Chapel.

Here I am again only just in time ….I think Merlin and Morgarna have been using my time up ! Anyhow this week , only a fortnight late! Some things get tidied up!

For visually challenged writersthe image shows a tiny chapel. Beside the chapel are dilapidated stone walls. A clue to its history/location perhaps.

Merlin looked Morgana in the eye and said “okay we need to decide now what type of amphibian we need to be, right now Hun times up! ” Morgan took a deep breath and replied “turtles I think that way at least we can defend ourselves.” Merlin nodded and waved a hand, immediately they disappeared leaving two terrapins in there place! “You always have to have the last bloody word don’t you” Morgarna moaned.
The two terrapins edged their way towards the giant bubble.

Once inside there was so much going on so many conversations that Merlin and Morgarna had to blot most of the chatter out leaving only the important conversation going.
Mixing in with all the aquatic creatures Merlin and Morgarna found they could easily scan the noise and eventually they picked up Mr Hippo Campus and Thomas and James.
” Is this planet really worth the bother” James was asking , “to be honest I believe Earth is on its last legs I personally think we should look elsewhere.

Morgarna was not a happy bunny because she had an amerous octopus all over her, she was not best pleasd! “Get off me you arshole I am just not interested! Merlin will you do something NOW! ” Merlin laughed and threw a curling spell over the octopus who immediately turned into a ball. …”At last” Morgarna said “finally Merlin you actually did what I asked ” .
At that point they heard Mr Hippo Campus cleared his throat. ” Your right I agree not only is the planet failing but the inhabitants are too stupid and selfish to be of any use to us…. I agree let’s move on “
“I shall nip back and collect Esther where shall we head out next”.. Well I think we can stay here for a while before we move on. “

Outside the aquatic bubble Morgarna looked across at Merlin and asked “Do you reckon we can trust them Merls they are a tad shifty “
“I think we can Hun and we should be able to pick up the house now and we’ll be living there so we can keep an eye on their portal ….I believe we can stop any invasion they might try before they start it? “
“Right” announced Morgarna taking on her human form, come on Merls, change back and let’s get gone I need a drink and a cigarette right now!”
Merlin did not change back immediately instead he scuttled across towards Morgarna and bit her ankle.
“Hey what was that for?” asked Morgarna indignantly, hopping around in a circle holding her ankle to stem the blood.
“Oh! Just payback for that nasty punch in my privates ….for no reason at all” replied Merlin changing back into his rather dashing self .

The two of them went back down the ladder and as soon as they were out of sight of the bubble Merlin got out his time and space mobile and called the anomaly up…. They both jumped.
Back at the lab Morgarna made straight for the bathroom, cigarette in one hand Bacardi and coke in the other!
While she was in the bath Merlin got on to the estate agent . “No I am telling you Mr Hippo Campus has pulled out…..no I know for a fact he’s no longer interested …”
Luxuriating in the bath Morgarna heard Merlin’s raised voice and the irritating estate agent’s voice on speaker phone, she waived her hand nonchalantly”
In the estate agent’s office his computer pinged an email alert, something made him read the email.
” Hang on Sir an email has just come in from Mr Hippo Campus, …and yes he is withdrawing his offer ….yes indeed and that makes the path clear for you to go ahead with your offer. You did say you are a cash buyer didn’t you have a chain.”
“Excellent ” replied Merlin ” How fortunate that the email arrived while we were on the phone…. ” He looked knowingly towards the bathroom were Morgarna was humming very loudly.

Two months later and with a lot of help from Morgarna, and a vast amount of blind eyeing from Merlin.
Morgana and Merlin moved in to the house, they kept the lab and after a few alterations they let it out at a nominal rent so as not to arouse any suspicions locally.
They had builders renovate and decorate the inside and they had the exterior of the building lovingly restored. The locals were amazing at the speed the builders worked and the care and attention to detail they made . In fact even the builders were amazed at how fast they worked and how smoothly things went…..
Morgarna had aching wrists from waiving her hands and tired eyes from winking…
Merlin decided to let her be in charge it was actually quite convenient.

Gail was still in residence and delighted to have company, even though Esther had turned out to be an alien spy she had been kind to her. After Thomas and James returned to collect Esther, Gail had felt very lonely after they had jumped through their portal.
So she was delighted and so excited about them moving in not to mention that they were time traveling scoucerers !
Gail loved all the beautiful changes being made to the house the modern kitchen, bathrooms, the electronic goods especially the TVs and computers she also loved all of Merlin’s lab equipment the like of which she had not even dreamt of.

Merlin had been busy working on a device for Gail so that she could leave the house and garden. It was finally finished.
“Gail, Morgarna who fancies a day out”
The two women appeared at the door of the lab…” Is it ready? ” Gail asked eyes wide… “Do you mean I can come too?”
” I bloody hope so gal he’s been faffing around with that bracelet long enough” laughed Morgarna.
Merlin smiled and held out the bracelet to Gail. “Here” he said, ” Once on it will not come off it held on by a spacial magnetic force. There’s a panic button on the side that will alert us if you need help of any sort and the second button is so you can hear and speak to us. ” Ending with a flourish Merlin threw the bracelet in the air and it landed neatly around Gail’s wrist.

They’d had a great afternoon they’d bought Gail some clothes and she’d been so happy to be out and about the look on her face was reward enough to Merlin and Morgarna.
On their way back to the car the Anomaly appeared , “What the F**k ” Morgarna growled at Merlin.
“Sorry, Hun ” he said sheepishly as he handed her, her bag and she jumped.

As she landed on the other side she realised she was not alone Gail was standing right by her side and she was so excited that she was actually buzzing! “What on earth”…thought Morgarna.
Once Gail had calmed down Morgarna read her the riot act ….Gail looked so downcast that, unusually for Morgarna she relented. “Okay your here now so as long as you stick with me and do as you are told we’ll be okay.
Morgarna lit and cigarette and looked across the field to see tiny chapel. Beside the chapel some dilapidated stone walls. “Right” she said to Gail, that’s our destination, are you up for an adventure?

This week Morgarna are worried and unsettled while Morgause is left under the care of the Lady of the Lake……

After breakfast Morgarna cleared away the dishes and tidied up after Merlin, with a waive of her hand. “No magic” she muttered “after the week we’ve had what does he expect?”
She just couldn’t settle as she thought about Morgause sleeping the sleep of the not quite dead under the care of Vivianne the Lady of the Lake. Lighting a cigarette Morgarna said out loud “I don’t trust her, I really don’t trust her”
“What you mean babes, is, you don’t like her, are you jealous?” Merlin’s voice sounded in her head”
“Jealous, what of? No I am not! Just get out of my head”

Later she joined Merlin in the office just off of the Lab, he was busy with his laptop and crystal ball. “How are you fixed babes ” he asked looking up .
“Why” asked Morgarna “Have we got a new job come in?”
“Yup if your up for it” Merlin said spinning round on his chair to look her in the eye.
Stubbing her cigarette out on his desk ( making him wince) she blew a lung full of smoke in his direction and replied. “I don’t see why not. I can’t do anything for little Sis she in the best of hands apparently” as she said the last part she made imaginary speech marks in the air with her fore and index fingers of both hands .
Merlin smiled,”your rather angsty for someone who doesn’t care about me”

Later after she’d changed and sorted her bag Morgarna headed off with no destination in mind, she knew the Anomaly would find her.
As it was she did not get far, as she turned into a wooded alleyway with bushes and lush greenery she saw an old lamppost and above it the Anomaly, as ever she jumped.

As she landed she notice she was in the same place but checking her phone she saw she was one hundred and fifty years in the past. It was dark and the lamplight was on, she could hear the hiss of the gas.
Looking in her notes she turned on her heels and headed back towards where the lab would stand in the future. There was a chill in the air and Morgarna had the distinct feeling she was not alone on the path .

K.L..CALEY’S #WRITEPHOTO Distance.

Our picture prompt this week from K.L. Caley this for #writephoto is discribe here “visually challenged writers, the image shows an island across a stretch of water. Upon which you can see some ruins and a white lighthouse.” The photo is lower down.

Morgarna is still dealing with the shadows with the help of Tom and the fairies while Merlin is battling to save Morgause’s life …he needs the help of an old flame.

********

The Morning found Morgarna and Tom wrapped around eachother exhausted after a night of passion. Morgarna woke with a start, quietly she walked to the window and watched the forest coming to life. Looking at Tom she thought to herself it’s been six hundred years since Merlin had warned him off and yet it only seemed like yesterday. A shiver ran down her spine. No she thought I can’t start remembering we have to fix those shadows.

Later that day Morgarna dressed in her woodland dress headed back to the house, secreted about her dress and in her hair were all the woodland folk. “I know, now how a flea ridden dog feels! Will you guys quit tickling me ….Keep still!!” Morgarna ended on a shout, looking around she apologised to several visitors for making them jump. They just smiled blindly and carried on. Morgarna could see plenty of shadows milling around.

“Are you guys sure the shadows can’t see you?” she whispered, “Of course we are we’ve had plenty of dealings with these spirits we know exactly how to deal with them ! ” Tom sounded really confident, peeping out of her floral bodice, ” by the way” he grinned do you want me to stop “tickling” you too?” “Yes” replied Morgarna, “especially you it’s hard enough to concentrate without you making it harder” . Tom raised his eyebrows and said “I have no idea what you mean!”

Once inside the house and leading.a group of enslaved tourists around Morgarna took them up to the crown exhibition was… The buzzing was ringing in her ears giving her a headache. The tourist though we’re totally unaware of the sound. Morgarna dug her nails into her palms to help her concentrate and reeled off the speel she had learn off heart.

As she neared the crown Tom and three other male fairies jumped out of her dress and the lifted the crown. They all worked a spell which made the crown disappear, the cessation of the buzzing woke the humans up. They saw the shadows, outside every shadow from every part of the area was converging on the castle.

Things looked nasty , the shadows were getting very threatening and the humans looked confused and very frightened.
Several other fairies flew out of Morgarna dress and the surrounded every group of shadows in the area.
These fairies had sparkling swords with which they slit the thin barrier that keeps the living and the undead separated.
Immediately all the undead were sucked though the slits to the other side. Once in the undead souls on the other side , cut another rift into which the evil undead were also drawn!
Finally after what seemed like an eternity of weeping and wailing the rifts on both sides were sealed.
The fairies were busily sewing the rifts with magic thread.

Immediately all rifts were sealed the faires made off to the woods and their privacy. Morgarna had to act quickly, there was a whole town of traumatized and hysterical humans. Searching in her bag she found the parchment Merlin had given her. Clearing her throat she read out the spell. Slowly things returned to normal, people were calming down and being reunited with the young people and children who the shadows had previously killed and dvoured. As the spell worked Morgarna wove on a memory loss spell to erase all their memories of shadows and death from the the last week..

Later Morgarna and Tom stood in the fairy ring “Is that a seasonal dress Morgarna” Tom asked, “It is” Morgarna replied with a smile, just as Tom waived his hand to change the season the Anomaly appeared in front of them and try as as she might she could not resist it.
As she disappeared she could hear Tom shout “Until next time …”

Distance – Image by KL Caley

Morgarna came down with a bump, wet and cold and very annoyed at not having more time with Tom.
Taking in her surroundings she was on a island a short distance from the mainland, there was a lighthouse at one end and the ruins of a castle at the other.
Morgarna looked down and saw the scrivelled remains of her dress laying at her feet. …Tom’s spell had worked and there was no mistaking what his plans had been.
She heaved a longing sigh, then shivered she was freezing standing there in only her Doc Martin’s.
Delving into her bag she pulled out her black dress and cloak. Thanking goodness for the presence of mind that had made her pack it.

Entering the castle ruins she suddenly knew exactly where she was… Avalon. Someone was approaching, she held her breath until she saw it was Merlin.
“You bastard Merlin I ..” The look on Merlin’s face silenced her.
“Not now Morgarna, it’s Morgause I need your help and we need the the help of Vivianne. …… The words died on Morgarna’s lips.
