A life given in love. Mum Gentle She Was.

My mum has been dead a long time over 20years. I still miss her so much. I wrote this poem in her honour. I tend to bring it out most years.

Gentle she was.

Gentle she was, a young woman of means, beautiful in her Marcel Wave she was.

A hair dresser with her own salon, a teaser of hair and tresses.

Then the quiet Irish man took her eye and her heart.

Not impressed were her parents with the young Irish trade unionist from the motor trade.

Time eventually brought them round to accept the vows the young couple had made.

Grief she bore when her fist born died at six months

Brave she was to have more. Three girls then two boys , and two more angels lost in-between.

Then after all was finished, came me making six.

Hard she worked to bring us up and support her quiet man who was there for her too.

Kind she was, good and open hearted she was.

The door always open to family and waifs and strays

Big hearted she was to all who past through our door.

Always there she was, with words of wisdom and comfort.

Her beautiful heart shone through her eyes.

Patient she was but there was temper there if needed,

She was not strong or mean but if needed her children and her man she would defend to the death!

Beautiful she was in features and in heart

There was not task she would not finish if she had made a start.

Cried for her daughters she did as her man gave them away

And when her sons went too she had a proud day.

Together alone by themselves again.

Happy she was full of the business of her quiet man.

Yet she was always ready to talk and help and ease our pain.

Cleaver she was but not school or college wise she was wise in life and love and truth and need.

Lonely she was when her man was taken ,

Wept she did as she wanted to join him.

Lost she was without the quiet man .

Heart broken she became though she threw herself in to caring for grandchildren.

Gone she was before her body, her mind and soul went to him.

Lost to us she was, a smile here and there maybe a flash of recognition.

Unknowing of all around her she was, sad eyed frighted lamb lonely, lonely.

Tiny she was sadly lost to us long before,

Gone into her mind to find her quiet man.

Tears we shed for her,we wept in grief and I in anger because so long had she been gone and I had wanted to talk to her,

But gone she really was.

Anemones her favourite flowers were they always remind me of her.

I forgave her for leaving me and now accept she had to go

As by the side of her quiet man was where she had to be.

Never to be forgotten.

When pain is over baring and I can’t get out of bed
I close my eyes and go dancing in my head.
I am still me even though I do not look the same
When I am feeling lost I play my saving game.
So sorry if you think me rude and blanch at things I’ve said
But when it all becomes too much I go dancing in my happy place, my blog or my head.

And now today day thanks to Dan Antion at No Facilities I have a new happy place The Island View Café . Thank y again Dan and friends for your hospitality. 💜

Jim Adams Song Lyric Sunday: Carte Blanche

Jim Adams

Well it’s Sunday again and time for Jim Adam’s to bring us our prompt for this week. Jim is giving us Carte Blanche this week, here’s what he had to say. “It is User Choice again here on Song Lyric Sunday and this gives you the option to choose whatever you like.  We had this before on October 4, 2020, so it has actually been two years and I thought I would bring it back again, because it brings so much variety (not because I am getting lazy).  I was thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to make this an annual start of October prompt, please let me know your thoughts on that.  So go your own way, or do your own thing, as this is supposed to be all about having fun today.”

So I gave this a lot of thought and I came back as I often do to Imogen Heap. It was here music that was the soundtrack to my learning to walk again after breaking my back , both times! In all honesty I believe her music really helped my recovery.

I have chosen a live version on Imogen playing Just for now, showing how she builds up her music , layering and recording and playing back her sounds before she invented her Me Mu gloves. Below is a video where Imogen explains how her gloves

She who hesitates is lost.

.

Apparently I have been blogging for eleven years?
Really, I’m surprised I’ve not bored you all to tears.
WordPress sent me a shiny new certificate
Which I forgot to retrieve, until it was too late.
I’ve asked them nicely could I have another copy
As I missed out by being slow and sloppy.
Sadly “no we can’t” was their reply
But they hoped with them I’d continue to fly.
So here I am trying to celebrate
I have no proof I was too late.
Sadly it is a case of she who hesitates loses!
I am not fibbing, this is the *truthies.

You are so tired your pain is tangible it breaks my heart to see you struggling. You are so brave you insist on your walk no matter how it makes you suffer.
Your breathing is so laboured as you walk, well wobble, you limp on all four legs.
Your wound still weeps as I do as I watch you. We both hide our pain as we know your Daddy is denying your struggles…he knows but it’s unspoken.
You may have weeks, months or days I just pray you are happy.

As you sleep do you dream of youth?
Puppy play and training to assist.
No rest, training starts young in truth
So much expected of you the heaven kissed.
You served, you worked , we gave you play.
We loved you from afar until the day
You came to live with us
We hope you have enjoyed your retirement
A princess among dogs we love you
Our children and their children love you too.

Stay as long as you can but don’t suffer please.
Suit yourself this time, don’t worry about our ease.

WELCOME TO #TANKATUESDAY!

This week’s form:

Tanka Prose.

I sit and watch her as she sleeps. She’s so tired these days age has taken it’s toll. I really am so grateful to her though the loyalty and love she shows me is far beyond wealth. She would follow me to the ends of the earth and truly so would I her.
Oh! She’s stirring now, bless her first action is to look for me.

love is her nature
devotion is her default

she’s my staff and stay
full of dreams of youth and play
she lightens my load always.

Ruby is home!

© willowdot21

Home from Vetinary Hospital, after a traumatic month of shocks and operations. Fingers crossed cancer cut out, there is a lot of nursing to do but she deserves the best. There is some concern that the skin flap the Surgeons used to close the wound might necrotise but hubby and I will do our best to prevent this. Stitches out in 2/3 weeks.

Ruby says thank you everyone for sending her love and good wishes.💜💜💜

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Nov. 6, 2021

Badge by Shelley Krupa.

Here we are on Saturday and our host LindaGHill has set up our SoCs prompt : Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “close eyes and point.” Grab the closest printed material to you when you sit down to write your post, open it up (if it’s a book, flyer, etc.), close your eyes, and point. Whatever your finger lands on, use that as your prompt. Have fun!

Thanks. The nearest printed matter was a card from our middle son. I followed the instructions to a T. What I ended up with was THANKS. Well what can I do with that I asked myself, well I can celebrate it. Funnily enough it’s cropped up a lot this week. Firstly the card.

From our middle son, thanking us for helping him achieve something he never thought he might.

Then there were the flowers from hubby as a thanks for looking after him while he has been unwell.

Then there was the phone call from eldest son who said Thanks so much for being an ear and shoulder while he got through isolation and Covid the other week, miles away and on his own.

Just when I thought I was thank you’d out I got this what’s app from youngest son.

[05/11, 07:48] Hi Mum, I was thinking you of you this week. Especially when I was ironing the boys school shirts
Thanks for doing mine for all those years 😊

Well I thanked them all and I have to admit they all made me feel a million pounds, so I made sure I thanked them back .

Such a tiny word
Yet it means so very much
It lifts the spirits.
