#JusJoJan prompt the 18th – “Wish”

My mother always said “be careful what you wish for. You don’t always get what you want.”

But I wish was Starbuck a starship pilot……..

Beneath this hard exterior there’s no soft marshmallow goo, there beats a heart of stone.

There’s never been any support for me so what I’ve achieved I’ve done on my own.

My parent’s never cared for me much so I never make any deep ties.

The only true love in my life is my star ship and the skies!

There’s only one man who could ever touch my soul but fate always intervenes ,

When I get together with Will Adarma there’s usually ugly drunken scenes.

I think he only sees me as one of the lads, so make out I don’t give a frack.

But I really fancy him, so ladies watch out or you’ll get my weapon in your back.

We have to save the worlds from the evil Cylon attack

We had them beaten once , but they evolved and now they’re coming back.

They have morphed to chrome and blood all covered with skin.

They are clever now, they infiltrated Caprica with spies

They blew up our worlds so we took the fleet and flew into the skies.

In Space we regrouped and planned, and I got to work closely with my man.

I will lead what’s left of our pilots and beloved ships

I am the best star fighter pilot but the fracks won’t give me shoulder pips.

It’s true I like a drink, gambling and a good cigar.

I am damn good in bed I’ll give you a good time what ever rank you are!

I am the best pilot as I have said before

I shall find the Cylon’s mothership and give the frackers what for!

I’ll rip the skin off Number Six and I’ll show her no quarter.

She beat the living crap out of me and then denied me even water.

I’ll lead you all to safety find you all another world

For I am really an angel that keeps her wings tight furled!

I am that star you see at night when it is darkest before the dawn.

I am the one who will shoot straightest so none of you need be forlorn.

I am the mighty Starbuck , Kara Thrace is my real name .

But what ever you call me I shall save you all the fracking same!

Yup that should of been me!

I wish I was a heroine who leads her people to a new life. Just to disappear and leave them on a green new planet  to start a new life. For them to discover that to be their guardian angel was the point of my life.

#JusJoJan prompt the 17th – “Check!”

Check, to go over a job, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, homework, an email or a letter, to make sure it is correct.

You can also put a tick in a box, next to a question, or list entry to show that things have been finished, done or accomplished. That is called a checklist.

The penultimate job I did before retiring was on a check out till, until I moved to customer service. I would run shopping through the till and take payment. I could, in those days accept cash, cheque ( like a check but spelt differently) or credit card. I used have to check the money, check the change with cash, and check signatures on cheques or cards.

Then I worked in customer service where I had to check out problems for customers, check in and out visitors and packages.

When I first started work years ago in London I was a window dresser, when I had dressed my allotted window I would have to go outside and check my work from the perspective of the person on the street!

There are always lots of checks to be done without them our lives would not be as safe. Checks at airports, ports, borders of any kind. Security checks, safety checks, time checks. You can have health checks, you can check in on people to make sure that they are okay.

Then there is the reality check! This is needed when someone gets ideas about their status! Thinks they are better than everyone else. Or is attempting to do something ridiculously dangerous or ambitious! It is like a short sharp slap…. It usually works well 😊

Oh! Yes at a club, theatre, restaurant, dance hall or hotel you can have a hat and coat check!

I think I have rambled on long enough I have probably bored you all to sleep. I have actually found this post very hard! It’s taken me all day to write this….

1The Friday Reminder for #SoCS & #JusJoJan 2021 Daily Prompt – Jan. 16th

Badge by Shelley Krupa

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “first thing.” Start your post with the words, “first thing” and go from there. Bonus points if you end your post with the last thing. Have fun!

First thing this year I determined things were going to be different. Things were going to get better! Positive thinking I told myself.

Okay we are in Lockdown I have got used to that by now. Then the first thing that started to dash my spirits was the climbing deaths and numbers of people seriously ill in hospital. Also the rising numbers of positive cases not only here but world .

The first thing I must say now is sorry for moaning, yet come to think of it I am just stating facts.

As far as I can see things are not improving yet and I can’t see them doing so for a long while yet.

I had better stop this rant oops ramble through this post as sounding boring or depressing everyone is , as my intent, the last thing!

First thing, last thing Tanka.

First thing I started
With hope to move swiftly on.
My intention was
Not to moan or to complain
No on my mind the last thing.

#JusJoJan prompt the 15th – “Button”

Chocolate Buttons, Milk Large Bag

Chocolate Buttons

A chocolate button is so tasty, a small round button of delight, I could never stop at one, no it has to be the whole packet. You can get a white, milk, plain or even a caramel chocolate button there are even some with hundreds and thousands on top. I absolutely love them.

Now I happen to love Teddy Bears and I have heard for most occasions. I even have one called buttons. He arrived one Christmas and never left. Here is a photo of him …you can see how he got his name button.

Well that’s about it for today. I think I am right on the button for today’s prompts. So all that’s left for me to do is to is hit the button to to publish.

#JusJoJan prompt the 14th – “Neighbour” Acrostic Poem

Neighbours are people who live next door.
Every road is full of mixed souls
In each house a family
Good or bad they will be
Helping hands or not
Beneficial
Often kind
Unkind
Rare

One-Liner Wednesday/JusJoJan the 13th, 2021 – Snow Carolers

Firstly let’s go with One Liner Wednesday, and an entry for the Alternative Dictionary. Snow Carolers. A group of people who enjoy rolling USVs around in the snow.

No on to Jusjojan. Again the prompt bis Snow Carolers , this time with a photo prompt from Linda.

Photo: A group of six snowmen of different sizes. Two have evergreen branches for hair; one has a moustache of tinsel and arms, and seems to be conducting music; one is kind of hidden and kind of plain by the looks of it; and the two smallest look like a boy and a girl with hats and scarves. They’re standing on the side lawn of a house.

© Linda G Hill.

Every year, every year without out fail, when they opened the curtains on the morning of December the 17th, they were greeted by the Snow Carolers.

Everyone commented on them, the six snow people set out as if singing Christmas Carols. Three adults, a teenager and two children, all wrapped up and singing.

It was a total mystery no one had ever seen anyone build them. Everyone in the Ducart household had sat up on the night of the 16th December to catch the culprits. Even the neighbours had taken turns to see if the master snow sculpturers could be revealed. Indeed the entire neighbourhood had got involved at one time or another but it was still a mystery. Last year they had even set up a security camera. That too had failed to bring forth any answers. There had been a power outage between 4am and 6am and when the footage was watched, at 3.59am there was nothing but snow on the front lawn, by 6.02am the six Snow Carolers were out there and ready to perform!

Well it had been 15years since the Snow Carolers had first appeared. At the usual New Year’s dinks celebration Paul and Jenny Ducart announced that they were no longer going to try and solve the mystery of Snow Carolers. The whole family infact the whole neighbourhood loved them, so why not just enjoy them. Everyone agreed.

Dear Mum  and Dad

I don’t think I ever made  it clear enough  how I appreciated exactly  what  you did  for me. It is only  now  as a parent and grandparent that I see  what  you must of  gone  through.

Nine   children  you had, nine, you lost  three  but  that was never  your  fault. How  did  you cope  Mum it must of been hard, and Dad  worse  for you because in those days  grieving  was not  the done thing. I lost  three babies too, but early, in pregnancy. I could not openly  grieve  either  but  you knew  you silently  gave me strength.

How  did  you cope  Mum and Dad  how  did  you balance  help  and interference , how  come  you never  ended not  talking  to each other or to any of us.

Now  look see,  you have both  been gone so long  and I miss  you  both so. I need  you here  to give  me  the strength , kindness  and love. See  even now I am asking for  your  help. I am  so selfish, I was  so angry  when you died  Mum  because  you were not there  to talk to  me and  help  me, do you know  it took me 7yrs  to accept  that  you had really  gone.

Who  helped you, did  anyone  or did  you have to struggle  through learning haphazardly! You  no  doubt  had  to and  that is  why  you were  both such  helpful parents. I am amazed  at  the sacrifices  you  must  of  made  to  keep us in  clothes, shoes  and food.

Dad worked as a  body maker  for London Transport upholstering seats on the Tubes and buses! Off to work at  5am and home at  5pm for dinner 6pm the BBC News … silence  reined!

Mum you loved Wimbledon, when we finally got a TV you watched the tennis for the entire fortnight….the only change from tennis was the news for dad…..and it was salade for tea for the entire fortnight.

I miss you both very much even though you have been so long, I still feel your presence and I will always be grateful for all that you did for me.

Well I shall close  now  and  tell you  that  you gave  me lots of  love and  good advice and  support. I really  hope  that  you were both as proud of  me as you were the others.

I miss  you  and I love  you !

The Friday Reminder for #SoCS & #JusJoJan 2021 Daily Prompt – Jan. 9th

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “sky’s the limit.” Write about something that has or seems to have no end. Enjoy!

Badge by Shelley Krupa

This part of the two above prompts, both are prompts run by LindaGHill.

“The sky’s the limit” Greg shouted as he burst into the office. “I got the contract guys we are on our way!”

Later that evening as Greg was leaving the bar after celebrating the new contact he was the happiest and felt for months and the most secure he had ever been in his life. He crossed the road. ….Bang ……he was hit by a bin lorry.

There was so much noise and pain he was cold and covered in blood. He stood up and stepped away from the lorry . He was pulled up short by the sight of himself on the road all smashed up and blooded. He found it so strange, suddenly there was no pain, no cold no fear.

A man was standing by his side, good-looking chap casually dressed but no shoes. He smiled at Greg and took his arm, unfurling his huge white wings he laughed and said “Smile Greg, the sky’s the Limit.”
