One upon  a dark, cold  Halloween

Monsters grew on the face of a

Most beautiful fairy Queen

At her eyes  they clustered

Magic of black Faye

All souls mustered

The Fairy

Queen to

Save.

Dark,sad secrets she must keep

Halloween Eve !

A Witch’s worse nightmare.

Image from Pixabay

It is hard when you’re witch,

Your presence gives polite society an itch.

When you float by in your latest gown

Women scream and men hit the ground.

Now all of the above could be a boon

Were it not Halloween very soon.

It is not my job to please them.

It is enough to make you shout and scream

When your hair looks good on Halloween.

A careless sprite has cleaned my dress

Dabbed away all signs of mess.

No! that really can’t be right,

Looking tidy on All Hallows Eve Night.

To make it worse I just received a call to say

My Vampire friends can’t come and play.

OH! tell me what’s a girl to do

I think I am coming down with flu.

I think I have really lost the plot, that guy over there just told me I look hot!

Look at me, I look like a fairy,

What’s going on, I should be Bloody Scary Mary!

No, I did not think so,

Eek! I just looked in the mirror where did all my attitude go?

What is a self respecting witch to do

Some pesky imp has used all my goo !

There is only one night until Halloween

And I look like a Fairy Queen.

It gets worse, damn, this just is not fair

None of my rags are fit to wear.

They all make me look stunning .

This is the work of evil and cunning

I guess I shall just have to go and hide

Looking like this, the gossip I’ll never survive.

I shall just climb into a box

And dine on pig’s swill and slops.

I just don’t know what I have done

I even crave a little rest in the sun??

Help, this is not right I am a creature of the night.

Some sneaky sprite has put a hex on me.

The only thing I can do is flee.

Halloween Acrostic Poem.

Hale and hearty ghosts and scary ghouls

Awake October, thems the rules

Lupines greet the harvest moon

Luna rays excite their mood

Over graves mist does swirl

Witche’s cauldrons.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Oct. 29, 2022. Element.

Hi it’s Saturday and time for LindaGHill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week Linda has told us. “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “element.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!”

Today we are out, helping our eldest son choose a new car. His old one was written off in an accident that was not his fault. So while Ruby and I wait in the comfort of the showroom they are out test driving the car. The place is decorated for Halloween so I have decided to write a Nonet about Elementals and to row in Halloween too.

Elemental.

Earth, wind, fire and air
Lo, these are the stuff of life
Each has a mythical spirit fair.
Man tries to rule them, that brings strife.
Every part of life is ruled by them
Now at this time of Halloween
The elementals conspire to mayhem
All Souls and Spirit unite with Mab their Queen.
Lock the windows and doors against the elementals.

I have just realised a huge error the above is an Acrostic poem not a Nonet at all 💜

Boo
Blood curdling screams rip the night
Owls hoot and we take fright
Open graves empty of their captive souls.

🦇🕷️🕸️🌌🌑🕷️🦇🕸️

Boom
Blood thirsty crawlers
Open your bedroom door
Offering you no mercy
Monsters come to getcha.

Not really but it fits 🎃🎃🎃🎃🐈

The pair landed back in the Lab, Morgana still giggling and Merlin hanging on to his box of skulls.
“What are you going to do with those old bones Hun” Morgana asked mockingly.
” None of your business” was Merlin’s terse reply as he headed off to his room Morgarna’s laugh ringing in his ears. As he entered his room he heard the click and smelt the smoke as Morgana lit up another cigarette and poured herself a Bacardi and Coke, shutting his door he thought “she’s an alcoholic chain smoker ” shaking his head he heard her shouting back,in his head “Yes and proud of it’

After they had finished dinner Morgana waved her hand casually and the table cleared itself and the dishes put themselves into the dishwasher.
“What are you playing at” asked Merlin looking a tad surprised. “The rules were no un- necessary magic”
“Well Hun I made the rules and as it’s ‘All Hallows Eve’ I thought I would treat myself to some saucery feel free to join in just for tonight.”

At about 7pm they both dressed up in their finest, Merlin as a grey wizard and Morgana as a sorceress. They’d not worn these clothes for years and were delighted to find that they fitted perfectly.
It was a cold dark night and as they stepped through wall of their lab on to the street they gave a gang of young lads the fright of their life’s.
“We need a nice pumpkin” Morgana announced, “Come on let’s get over to the allotments and see if there is a nice one there.” Laughing like children as they ran across the road their feet only just touching the ground as though they wanted to fly they had decided not too draw too much attention to themselves! There were children running around dressed up as all-sorts, some traditional, some contemporary but none as good as Morgarna and Merlin.

“Over here Morgana I found the perfect one… Not too large nor too small”
“Yup that one is perfect” Morgana took the pumpkin and ran her nails over it producing a terrifying face then lighting a cigarette she also produced a lit, tea light to make pumpkin man more scary!
They found a cane and attached the head to it and marched off towards the nearby housing estate to “scare the bejesus out of as many unsuspecting children as possible.

“Oh I need a drink” laughed Morgarna “That woman’s face was a picture when you turned her horrid little boys into three sprites”
” Not half as bad as when you turned them back and told her to take more water with it” chuckled Merlin, “pour me one while you are at it , I’ll have whatever you are having”
Morgana and Merlin both slumped down on to the sofa, Bacardi and Coke and fish and a chips supper on their laps. “Anything good on box” asked Merlin.
“Halloween” Morgarna smirked.
