#TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 205, #POET’SCHOICE

Colleen Chesebro said : “As we enter December… let us give thanks for everything we’re received this year.”

It’s the first of the month and you know what that means! Word Crafters, choose your own syllabic poetry form, theme, words, images, etc. It’s up to you! This opportunity only happens once a month!

I chose a shadorma to show how truly grateful we can be for togetherness.

So entwined
Wrapped up together
Joined as one
At the hip
It’s our truth, our forever.
We grow love through us.

2020 WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 204, #THEMEPROMPT

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

It’s the fourth week of the month! Are you ready for a theme prompt?

This month’s theme is a haiku written by Sue Vincent:

clouds cover the moon,
beyond dawn’s pale horizon
sun rises unseen
.

©2020 Sue Vincent

Please use the above haiku to inspire your own syllabic poetry. There’s a lot to unpack in these words. What will your interpretation be? Go where the words take you.

I wrote an Etheree in honour of the Dawn.

New Hope

A
Sliver
Of silver.
A ray of hope
Night shades wrapped and cloaked.
Dawn dancing on her way
With stealth she starts a new day
Silver and gold look glorious
Bright skirts swirling around, hope for us.
Secretly ringing the changes of life.

WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 203 #EKPHRASTIC #PHOTOPROMPT

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY

It’s the third week of the month! Time for an Ekphrastic #PhotoPrompt

This challenge explores Ekphrastic writing inspired by visual art (photographs). Diana Peach from last month’s challenge has provided the photo for this month’s challenge:

Moonlight Child.

Silver moonlight child
Hidden in the forest wild
Fairies see, and smile.
Caught in your reflection mild
Pray for us please moonlight child.

#TANKA TUESDAY POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 202 SYNONYMSONLY

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

This week, Kat Myrman, from Like Mercury Colliding, selected the words:

I have written about the world as it is today. I am asking nature to help my children and grandchildren, everyone else’s too. We would be so grateful if we could have a better world. I have used synonyms for the two prompt words as well as counting my syllables.

Imagine & Gratitude

A
Life where
Thankfulness
Is not a dream
But reality.
Let’s make believe it’s true
No war,plague, famine or hate.
In my dreams I hear you saying
Is it too much to picture real peace.
I would really appreciate normal

#TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 201, #POET’SCHOICE

November choices
For you in the land of the free
No choice do I see.

Your choice counts
Vote now for freedom
It’s hopeless.

Nature winding down
This harsh year almost spent
Good riddance to it.

WELCOME TO TANKA TUESDAY!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

It’s the fourth week of the month! Are you ready for a theme prompt? Marsha Ingrao from last month’s challenge picked the theme.

This month’s theme is:

This week I have written a Tanka and a short Haiku . To express how humans have this illusion of power, over Mother Nature who laughs at us.

We feel we control
The outcome of life and fate.
Sadly deluded
Gaia sighs and laughes at us
She holds sway above us all.

We’re in charge?
Gaia laughs at us
We haven’t a clue

COLLEEN’S 2020 WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 199 #EKPHRASTIC #PHOTOPROMPT OR #SYNONYMSONLY

Our Hostess with thmostest Colleen said :”You can choose the Ekphrastic  #PhotoPrompt provided by Trent McDonald, or you can choose the #SynonymsOnly challenge using the words “MOVE & MAKE” provided by David Ellis.

OR… You can do both! It’s up to you#

This week I have decided to write a Etheree using Trent MacDonald’s photo and David Ellis‘s words. I used glide, skimming and sailing for move and create and manufacture for make.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA: Milford Pond

I
Glide through
Life, serene
Swanlike skimming
Not a ripple seen
Sailing through like a dream
Nothing betrays the madness
Created by my feet beneath
Autumn colours also manufacturer
A gentle serenity to fool all.

COLLEEN’S 2020 WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 198, #POET’SCHOICE

Colleen says : Guess what? It’s the first challenge for my favourite month of October… you know what that means! Poets, choose your own syllabic poetry form, theme, words, images, etc. It’s up to you.

NEW RULES: Let’s make this challenge a true poet’s choice! Use any syllabic poetry form that you’d like. As long as there are syllables to count, you’re ready! Be creative. If your form is something new, teach us how to write it. Have fun!

My choice this week is extra special as Colleen has given us free reign as to poetic form. I have chosen to put two together. An Acrostic Nonet.

The contents comes from deep within me. It could be read as a personal relationship, with either another person or thing, or as a lament to nature and our current world troubles.

Autumn Cry.

As always tapped under your control
Useless I am no longer whole
Tell me how I lost the light
Undone I’m caught in flight
Morning brings no hope
No kindness spoke
Cry freedom
Real needs
Yearn.
