The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS July 5, 2025 Open.

Linda and Alex went to see the Blue Jays game Wednesday just gone…I bet they had a great time ! Anyway she was not tardy keeping us up to date this week’s prompt: my computer went ping…. Here is what she said: “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “something that opens.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!” Linda’s post id here.

What opens: Eyes, ears, mouth, minds and hearts for a start.
The door or window of opportunity, the door to the street the door to the outside or the inside. You can open a door and walk into the bar where David is asking Dan and I questions about Poetic Justice the book we released on June 11th.
David has got us to open our minds and mouths and talk about some deep questions!
The window of opportunity is open also as Dan says in his post at No Facilities : “Amazon has this thing called a Countdown Sale. It’s where you pick a low price for your book and gradually raise it back up to the full price over the course of seven days. So, we’re going to celebrate the final week of the launch tour by lowering the price as of midnight (Pacific time) Wednesday (July ninth) and raising it gradually after we visit with Darleen Foster and Jan Sikes. It will be priced at ninety-nine cents Wednesday through Saturday afternoon, then at one-ninety-nine through Tuesday.”
That’s a window not to ignore while it is open.
You can have an open house…my parents always had an open house and there were always people of all ages visiting or staying…friends, family or even new people of all nationalities in and out.
Also if you’re selling a house you’d have an open house!
What else opens shops, bars, schools there are many things I could go on forever…like open season… meaning :
the annual period when restrictions on the killing of certain types of wildlife, especially for sport, are lifted.
a period when all restrictions on an activity, especially on criticizing a particular group, are abandoned.
“it’s open season on public figures”
Cases…open and shut… ticket …an open one mean you can return when you like. ….I especially like an open jar of cookies or an open box of chocolate….yes I could go on.
But why ignore an open invitation to the Bar? …why not pop over now and join us with open hearts and minds ? At Dan’s place.

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Back in 2010 I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust. I will of been married 53yrs this comming year. I have found different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light. My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and be as strong as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

  1. Thanks for the link, Willow and thanks for being open to opportunities. Without that spirit, Poetic Justice wouldn’t be nearly as good a book.

  2. I enjoyed your conversation over on Dan’s blog, Willow. It’s always fascinating to hear writers talk about their process. As for open houses, my favorite tip is making them seem homey by baking cookies. Talk about a delightful smell 🥰

    1. Thank you Laura I popped over and answered that question 💜.
Now I know I mentioned open house in the selling sense … And I agree, bake, make coffee and spray polish. But generally here in the UK open house means all are welcome . Two nations separated by the same language. 💜🤞💜

  3. Oooo, Willow, I’ve got an open bottle of wine, to go with the open box of choccies,…(actually, I opened your fridge, and ‘borrowed’ it, …open season,..😉)….💫💙🤗💜💫

      1. Oh, …. didn’t you know? I’m a constant visitor Willow, … I’m ever so considerate, … I tidy up after myself, … in fact, I did that washing up that time, … tsk , tsk, … tidy sink tidy mind…😂. (good morning my friend, I feel so happy this morning for some reason, I just wanted to share the joy)

  4. Good morning Penn… I always know when you’ve been. There’s always something not quite where I left it! That’s okay and you are always welcome! Especially when you are spreading joy… I need some this morning. Keep visiting keey spread the Joy 😂

Heartland Echoes

Welcome to my “Heartland Echoes,” where I aim to share my poems with the world, along with my survival story and autobiography of childhood abuse, motivational quotes, and much more. Through my words, I hope to inspire others to share their own stories and experiences. Each poem is a piece of my heart and soul, along with a story of a traumatic past, crafted with inspiration, Hope, faith, love and passion. I believe that by sharing our art and emotions, I’ll be able to connect with others on a deeper level and create a sense of community.
