Memories of France.
The door to the old water pumping shed at the last Gite we stayed in, in Burgundy. There used to be a chateau on the hill opposite the gite which we stayed in , it is now long gone . Yet the water pumping station is still standing with ivy growing all over it.
The door from the kitchen into the laundry room.
A door in a nearby town, near a river…. with a damp mark. Obviously flooding is a regular occurrence!
One of many Mairie buildings, one in every single town we visited, some grander than others, I liked this one it was looked so calm.
One of the Lock Keepers on the Nivernais, complete with washing! Lol it crossed my mind to hang it out .
Thoughts of France
Oh! It nice to stop and think Relax in the shade and have a drink A different take on life’s outlook To rest and have time to read a book. What lays ahead I don’t care or know. To have the time to decide where to go. Sadly those days seem so long ago When morning, noon and afternoon did flow Long summer days gone in a flurry Away from the everyday hurry, scurry.
Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Back in 2010 I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust. I will of been married 53yrs this comming year. I have found different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light.
My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and be as strong as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well.
I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

Love these doors Willow. They have such character! The waterline on that one door is sad to see, but that door looks solid enough to keep the water out, at least I hope so.
Your poem seems to say that you would love to revisit. Something to think about!
These are lovely doors, Willow and your poem is delightful. It’s funny how you mention the “one in every town” – like Main St and High St and in New England, a Congregational church. I really like the ivy colored pumping station.
The Mairie is their town hall and they are as prolific as their churches! The pumping station was in the back of the ghite we stayed in and it was so inviting…. It had a story I used it in one of Morgarna’s travels💜
Lovely doors, Willow. Since I write a lot about France (for my clients, never been there) I know France is such a great place for doors. I usually write about more touristy places never wrote much about Burgundy. These days I write a lot about France ski resorts. I loved the poem you wrote a nice way to describe France.
We do love to visit France and we try to keep off of the tourist track though. We have not visited there since before the pandemic…. We hope to go back soon 💜💜
I love how you successfully capture doors that are off the beaten path, a challenge in a place so touristy as France. And best of all, that you write a creative little poem to sum it all up! Very unique!!!
HI Willow, these are beautiful pictures. I also love to have a few days away from my everyday life. We obviously, go to the bush to view the animals and other creatures.
Welcome to my “Heartland Echoes,” where I aim to share my poems with the world, along with my survival story and autobiography of childhood abuse, motivational quotes, and much more. Through my words, I hope to inspire others to share their own stories and experiences. Each poem is a piece of my heart and soul, along with a story of a traumatic past, crafted with inspiration, Hope, faith, love and passion. I believe that by sharing our art and emotions, I’ll be able to connect with others on a deeper level and create a sense of community.
