TankaTuesday Weekly #Poetry Challenge No. 306, 2/7/23

WELCOME TO #TANKATUESDAY!

短歌 火曜日

It’s time for Colleen Chesebro’s Tuesday Tanka.

Colleen said ‘This week’s challenge is a photo prompt. I’ve asked my friend, and photographer, Terri Webster Schrandt, from secondwindleisure.com to share her photos with us for inspiration. Terri runs a weekly photo challenge called Sunday Stills. Check it out HERE.”

Terri says: “This is a filtered version of a rose I photographed at the International Rose Test Garden in Portland.”

I have chosen to write an Abhanga in any number of 4-line stanzas with 6-6-6-4 syllables each. L2 and L3 rhyme. The end rhyme scheme is abbc. It is customary to title your poetry.

Nature’s Circle.

Past her best, beauty fades
Edging her petals dark
Still her presence to mark
Her colour glows

Radiant in her youth
She still outshines them all
Her green leaves and stalk tall
She bows her head

Nature has run it’s course
She will whither and die
Her scent through air will fly
It’s nature’s way.

From the soil she has grown
Nutured her and nurished
Through summer she flourished.
Life’s sweet circle

Love Is In Da Blog: Day Seven.

Hi everyone today is Day Seven of Bee Halton’s Love Is In Da Blog. Our prompt today is A Love Song from Scandinavia

I have chosen October and April by the Rasmus and featuring Annette Olzon. I have used this song before even wrote a poem about it love it!

Polar oposites were they
He the night she the day
He a fallen angel, dark
She so pure without a mark
They met, the universe exploded.
They ignored the odds against them loaded.
They were never meant to be
Yet could their love set them free. ©willowdot21

The Rasmus is a Finnish rock band that formed in 1994 in Helsinki while the band members were in upper comprehensive school. The original band members were Lauri Ylönen (lead singer-songwriter), Eero Heinonen (bass), Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar) and Jarno Lahti (drums). Jarno Lahti left the year after and was replaced by Janne Heiskanen in 1995. Heiskanen quit the band in 1999 and was soon replaced by Aki Hakala. Pauli Rantasalmi left the band and was replaced by guitarist Emilia “Emppu” Suhonen in 2022. Best known for their 2003 hit single “In the Shadows“, the band has sold 5 million albums worldwide and approximately 350,000 albums in Finland alone, and has won numerous awards, both domestic and international. The band represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Jezebel“. Information Wikipedia

Love Is In Da Blog: Day 6.

Good morning I am a day late with day six of Bee Halton’s Love Is In Da Blog. The prompt was : A Folk Love Song from your tweens.

Well I was a older than what I consider my tweens I was tween twenty and thirty when this song was first popular but group were around in my tweens so hopefully it counts. The song is a traditional English Folk song and it’s great to sing along with or dance to!

All Around My Hat by Ste

The song “All Around my Hat” is of nineteenth-century English origin. In an early version, dating from the 1820s, a Cockneycostermonger vowed to be true to his fiancée, who had been sentenced to seven years’ transportation to Australia for theft and to mourn his loss of her by wearing green willow sprigs in his hatband for “a twelve-month and a day”, the willow being a traditional symbol of mourning. The song was made famous by Steeleye Span in 1975, whose rendition may have been based on a more traditional version sung by John Langstaff.
