Flashes of gold skies
There is blue hue all around
Evening falls soft
Winters hues touch deep the soul
Frosty fingers spread magic.

Periwinkle Blue

My go to film when I need a lift and a laugh is Snatch …

Snatch (stylized as snatch.) is a 2000 British-American crime comedy film written and directed by Guy Ritchie, featuring an ensemble cast. Set in the London criminal underworld, the film contains two intertwined plots: one dealing with the search for a stolen diamond, the other with a small-time boxing promoter (Jason Statham) who finds himself under the thumb of a ruthless gangster (Alan Ford) who is ready and willing to have his subordinates carry out severe and sadistic acts of violence.

The film features an assortment of characters, including Irish Traveller “One Punch” Mickey O’Neil (Brad Pitt), referred to as a “Pikey“, Russian arms-dealer Boris “the Blade” Yurinov (Rade Šerbedžija), professional thief and gambling addict Franky “Four-Fingers” (Benicio del Toro), American gangster-jeweller Abraham Denovitz known as “Cousin Avi” (Dennis Farina), small-time crooks Sol (Lennie James) and Vinny (Robbie Gee), getaway driver Tyrone (Ade), and bounty hunter Bullet-Tooth Tony (Vinnie Jones). It is also distinguished by a kinetic direction and editing style, an intricate double plot featuring numerous ironic twists of chance and causality, and a fast pace.

Enough it’s a great film…though warning it’s violent and the language is appalling BUT believe me it’s so funny. Now where am I going with this? I shall explain!

In the scene below One Punch Mickey the Irish pikey fighter (Brad Pitt) and Turkish boxing promoter ( Jason Statham) and his sidekick Tommy (Steven Graham ) are discussing payment for a fight, plus the replacement of his mother’s caravan… Which had been burnt out…..

The language is foul and unintelligible to Turkish and Tommy and anyone watching! due the the strong Irish pikey accent. Where does Periwinkle come into this? Well Mickey’s Mum is very parcial to the colour Periwinkle Blue, and Mickey wants the seats and scatter cushions for the interior to be Periwinkle Blue! (“Ah! She’s terribly parcial to periwinkle blue”)

So Strong and unintelligible language warning ⚠️

Guest Post – The Last Drive by John W. Howell #newbook . Over at Entertaining Stories.

Good morning I really want to share this great news of a sequel to Eternal Road from John W Howell. Here is a taster from Craig’s post and lower down a link to the whole post which I really recommend.

Let’s all welcome John Howell to the Entertaining Stories blog. John is a dear friend, one of my collaborators at Story Empire, and a prolific blogger. He’s also one hell of an author.

He’s here to tell us about his newest release. Please use those sharing buttons to help him out. I know he’s done it for me, and I’m pretty sure he’s shared your promos, too. The place is yours, John.

I am so pleased to be with you today, Craig`. I want to thank you for helping to spread the word about The Last Drive. I have been impressed on your ability to develop characters and storylines that are chock full of personality and excitement. I had not thought about creating a sequel to Eternal Road. One day though it struck me that the story was probably half finished. I decided that the characters deserved to at least have a story that was a definitive conclusion. I’m glad to say that I feel the story is complete now.

Please continue reading at Craig Boyacks Entertaining Stories.

Go on what are you waiting for 💜
