#TankaTuesday Weekly #Poetry Challenge No. 301, 1/3/23

Welcome to a new year of writing syllabic poetry. Please read the rules, updated for the new year,2023 HERE.

Back by popular demand, our first poetry challenge of 2023 from Colleen Chesebro is to write your poem by selecting synonyms for the two words below. Do not use the two wordsβ€”synonyms only.

This week I have chosen to write a Tanka.

New & Experience.

A novel feeling
An encounter with nature
Never before felt
Completely out of the blue
To be one with the ocean.

It is so lovely to have you back Colleen, to feel the warmth of our poetic family once more, here’s to 2023.πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Awww, Willow that is such a lovely thing to say. Thank you. I feel the same way. Your tanka is perfect. I love how the boys met the ocean. πŸ’™

I got to have such an experience with the Atlantic Ocean a number of years ago. I was more then impressed. Thank you for the reminder. ❀

If I could live by a warm ocean…
The little creek at the end of my yard is my water connection.
It is fun to watch others experience the vastness of the ocean for the first time πŸ™‚
    Cheers!

Our souls have a particular affinity for water. Nicely done in so few words, Willow.

I love the excitement of children when they experience something new. Your poem and photo bring that out.
