I have chosen The End Of The Road from Boys to Men…yes it was a Tamala Motown and it was one of the record labels last great hits!

End of the Road” is a song by American R&B group Boyz II Men for the Boomerang soundtrack. It was released in 1992 and was written by Babyface, Antonio L.A. Reid and Daryl Simmons. “End of the Road” achieved domestic and international success. In the United States, “End of the Road” spent a then record breaking 13 weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, a record broken later in the year by Whitney Houston‘s 14-week number one hit “I Will Always Love You“; Boyz II Men would later match Houston’s record with “I’ll Make Love to You“, which spent 14 weeks at number one in 1994, and then reclaim the record with “One Sweet Day” (a duet with Mariah Carey), which spent 16 weeks at number one from 1995 to 1996.

Motown Records is an American record label owned by the Universal Music Group. It was founded by Berry Gordy Jr. as Tamla Records on June 7, 1958, and incorporated as Motown Record Corporation on April 14, 1960. Its name, a portmanteau of motor and town, has become a nickname for Detroit, where the label was originally headquartered.

What was on my plate after a fish and chip meal with friends a while back? Plate art, isn’t it pretty.

THIS IS PART OF LindaGHill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday.

Throwback Thursday #65 – You Don’t Have to Be American to be Thankful Today

This week’s prompt for Thrown Thursday is: Being Thankful is bought to us from Maggie.

Maggie said “Since today is Thankgiving in the U.S. I thought it would be good to think back to your childhood, your family life, and the place where you were raised and reflect a little. Out of that reflection, simply write something about your past you are thankful for today. It can be one thing or many – that is totally up to you. Feel free to share an old photo or a simple remembrance. May peace and gratitude find you wherever you are today.”

Now I know Maggie said to look back to our childhood and share rememberance of back then, that we are grateful for, well I have done that very often on here, so today I am going off piste and I am going to share what I am grateful for today, I actually mean today.

Five am and I woke up with cramp, nothing unusual about that. As I was getting back into bed I felt very woozy. Then the whole room started spinning. .. I laid very still and breathed as deeply as I could. Unfortunately ten to fifteen minutes later I start to feel terrifically sick. I get out of bed and stagger forward bumping into the dresser… Then I just can’t get my bearings and feeling sick and dizzy I crumple to the floor and call for hubby. I then crawl to the bathroom with his assistance.

Back in bed and the whole room is spinning at 50 M.P.H. while I am laying still and scared sick. It just kept getting worse. Eight am we rang the Dr’s surgery, eight thirty the Dr rang and told me to go to A&E which we did. I can’t go through the whole day but we were there for 6/7 hours. I had blood tests and ECG neaurological tests, eye tests, blood pressure and had my ears and throat looked at, still they did not identify cause. Possible viral infection. They have given me some pills in case it happens again.

I am home and after not eating all day I have had a small dinner and two mince pies. I am grateful to hubby for looking after me at 5am, rining the Dr at eight am, taking me to the hospital and staying with me then bringing me home and looking after me.

I am grateful to our middle son for taking time out of his day off to go round to our house and looking after Ruby. I am grateful to the doctors and nurses who looked after me. I am grateful to the other two of our sons for caring and ringing. I am very grateful for being in bed with a warm electric blanket! I am grateful and thankful to be feeling a little better. I am still feeling sick so I am off to sleep now. I hope you all have plenty to feel grateful for, I hope those of you who celebrated Thanksgiving today and those of you who didn’t all found plenty to be Grateful and Thankful for. Good night I love you all.

I shall be back tomorrow to read your posts and comment. Nighty ✨

We’re closing in on the end of this year’s #TankaTuesday poetry challenges. There is only one more challenge remaining. Are you ready for a theme prompt? Eugi selected this month’s theme: THE GRAY SCARF.

I have chosen to write a Kouta. This is a poem in 4 lines. (an occasional 5th line may appear) often a standalone poem, but it can be accompanied by other Koutas with the same theme.
Syllabic, variable odd numbered syllable lengths, the most common patterns are written in lines of alternating 7-5-7-5 syllables or 7-7-7-5 syllables.
secular, personal, themes of ordinary life often include onomatopoeia. I have chosen to write about verse Kouta.

Gray Scarf.

T’was synonymous to her
Always the gray scarf
Neither silk like nor too harsh
It was a comfort.

When time scurries by, rush rush
The gray scarf stood still in time
The gentle beat of her heart
Sand through a timer.

It was our comfort and rock
Warming old gray scarf
Protecting us from the world
It’s bitter harshness.

Always, it was, safe harbour
Where is the beloved gray scarf ?
I so long to feel it’s warmth.
Like Mother’s soft hand.

Back in the here and now a young PCSO was struggling with the traffic in the high street, the abandoned tractor blocking the road. Tempers were rising and he was getting hot under the collar! Just as he was beginning to think he was going to get beaten up by one of the irate motorists a police car arrived on the scene. Thank you, God thought the PCSO the chavalry has arrived.
“Right Jim stop that traffic behind you and tell them to shut up now!” Shouted the sergeant as he got out of the squad car. “Graham get that lot behind to all back up and move to the right! “
“Sir” replied Graham.
“Right Mr Jones ” continued the sergeant, “if you could move your tractor we can all get back to normal”

The noise from the high street filtered into the cemetery. As dusk fell and the traffic noise faded the residents of the cemetery were being disturbed by Bill who was the entity.
“I want to know where Merlin is and I am getting annoyed now!…I also want to see Annette, Annette where are you! “
Things were getting nasty , Bill was so angry he was picking up grave stones and throwing them at the church door and hurling flowers around.
Suddenly the church door opened and Annette stood in a halo of light from within the chapel. She looked at the young lad in front of her and tutted…..”You must be incredibly ugly” she said, “that you have to keep stealing bodies to get about”
“I have no form , I am not temporal and you know that. Anyway we are not here to discuss me, I want to know where Merlin is”

“He is not here he returned to my time to find Morgarna and my John.”
The Entity thought for while and then suddenly realised he must of gone forward as Merlin had travelled back.

The meal had gone without a hitch and Merlin and Gail had been careful not to eat or drink too much. Merlin read a few minds and especially Annette’s father who he found to be an utterly bad sort with no thoughts of anyone but himself , not even his recently murdered daughter.
Merlin looked across to Gail and spoke telepathically, ” I have scanned the whole castle both mentally and with the E.R. and there is definitely no entity here!”
“Then we need to get Morgarna and John out while we can … Morgarna must be really disoriented with her powers missing”
“My thoughts too, Gail, we will make our excuses and get moving!”
As one Merlin and Gail stood up. Lord
Harry looked up and asked, ” What! Leaving so soon Lord Morten?”
“Merlin smiled, yes my Lord, we have been traveling all day and most of the evening. We must leave early tomorrow as we have to get to Warrwick ….”
” I’ll have your servants alerted then”
“No need ” Merlin waved his hand to silence Gail, who was about to speak”
“We travelled on our own Sir Harry so as not to draw attention to ourselves”
Lord Harry was about to question that but again Merlin raised an eyebrow and Lord Harry’s doubt disappeared.
As they left the big hall a page stepped forward to lead them to their rooms.
As soon as they were in a hallway on their own Meriln turned to the page and said thank you. We are safely in our rooms and there we will remain all night. “
The boy smiled and carried on to where he was taking Merlin and Gail and happily sat down outside the door.

“This way Gail” Merlin called to Gail , “We need to go down and get John first, I don’t think Morgarna is up for running up and down stairs right now …”
So down they went the steep winding step getting damper and more slippery as they descended.
“I hope we don’t meet anyone on these stairs Merlin , I am rather scared as it is. “
“Don’t worry Gail I have it all in hand, just stick close behind me”

At the bottom of the steps Merlin took a flaming torch from a wall holder and led the way past the Gaurds room where the two encumbants sat snoring the room lit from the brazier. The keys to the dungeon had fallen on the floor and Merlin crept in and retrieved them!
They found John in the deepest darkest dungeon, there were two other poor souls who they found on the way.. they set them free too!
As they entered the cell Gail was first to speak.
” Hello John, we are Morgarna’s friends we’ve come to recuce you and Morgarna and see if we can set things right. …Can you walk? “
“Aye miss I can but they took Morgarna away and I don’t know where she is!”
“No need to worry , we do. Now things will get very strange for you so just go with the flow and trust us …we are on your side.”

So after getting John the three of them made their way up to the garret. They met three guards who they knocked unconscious and then they had an encounter with six servants, Merlin used magic on them!
Finally they reached the garret where Morgarna lay, wet filthy and talking in her sleep to a Chrustina?
Gail was visibly shocked . Merlin reached into his cloak and pulled out what looked like an iPad… He dialed up the anomaly, “Right John I need you trust us! Do exactly what I tell you and believe in us! Gail grab my arm, John hold Gail’s hand…. whatever you do, do not let go! “
The Anomaly appeared and Merlin picked up Morgarna…”jump” he shouted!
John screamed as they all jumped through the garret tower window and through the Anomaly!

As all four of them landed in the back garden of their house a small squirrel nibbling something whilst sitting on a fence panel fell flat on its back on shock! …..
