TankaTuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 285, 8/18/22 #Ekphrastic #PhotoPrompt

© Colleen Chesebro.

This week’s challenge explores Ekphrastic poetry, inspired by visual art or photographs. Reena provided a piece of her artwork for this month’s challenge. There’s plenty of imagery in her art, and it’s a great inspiration to write your poem. Remember what you’ve learned about the psychology of color in your poetry.

This week I have chosen an etheree for my form for the Ekphrastic poem.

Gaia Gives.

A kaleidoscope of earthy colours
Escapes a knowing, talented hand.
So much that the inner eye sees.
The guiding hand of Gaia
Brings meaning to fingers
And peace to the brain
Would that all could
Share the view
Gaia
Gives.

This is part of Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge.

That’s very nice, Willow. Such a clear interpretation expressed (seemingly) effortlessly.

Nicely done, Ekphrastics are not easy, but you made that flow as smooth as butter from a hot knife, as my uni tutor would say.

Willow – this is so great! My brain could totally use some peace – maybe Gaia could pass some along this way? 🙂

Loved the reference to Gaia here. It simply elevates the poem a notch higher. Beautiful poem, Willow!

Would that all could, indeed. Willow this is like a prayer. Thanks for sharing. Your title of Kaleidoscope was one I considered for mine, but then settled for something else. Kaleidoscope really matches that artwork by Reena.
Thanks for sharing, Willow. So cool. Gaia and I thank you.

Thank you Selma the title just presented itself when I saw the artwork Reena gave us. I saw the kaleidoscope of Gaia and her earth there. We all need to really look at our world more closely and learn. Thank you for reading.

        Thanks, Willow. It’s lovely indeed.

BTW, I’m having interruptions on the comments of my website.
Not with every response: yours shows perfectly, but I’d like to know why it’s happening too frequently now.
Next time you leave a comment it might looks differently. Please bear with me for a while. Thanks dearly. Blessing you. Xoxo working on getting it fixed. Xo
