TankaTuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 284, 8/9/22, #SpecificForm: 4-11

Β© Colleen Chesebro

Last month, Colleen asked Yvette Calleiro to select a syllabic form for us to learn more about. Her choice was a form that Gwen Plano created, called the 4-11. You can find her 4-11 form HERE.

I have written a two stanza 4-11 and called it pride. Hoping to give someone special a lift….they know who they are.

PRIDE

Take heart, grow wings
Own your true soul
Turn to the light
Forsake the pain
That lies will bring
Take your counsel
Steady your step
Grab honesty
Only then you’ll
Find honesty
Take heart, grow wings

Pride can mean more
Than vanity
The soul inside
Must be set free
Ignore the slings
And words of fools
You must be true
Fight for your rights
Be proud, be loud
Now as before
Pride can mean more.

THIS IS PART OF COLLEEN CHESEBRO’S TUESDAY TANKA.
