K. L. Caley #WRITEPHOTO – Den and Door.

Hi everyone Morgarna and Merlin went AWOL last week but to make up for that they have given me a twofaone episode!

This is part of K.L.Caleys #writephoto.

For visually challenged writersthe image shows a sign in the foreground with the words ‘Den Building’ on it. In the background is a den made of leaves and branches.

Den – Image by KL Caley.

Morgarna wrapped her cloak tightly around her body to protect herself against the evening chill. Stopping she lit a cigarette while she collected her thoughts.
Looking through the bushes she could see what looked like a child’s den. Carefully and as quietly she could she approached the den. She was still acutely aware that she was not alone.
Suddenly she felt someone or something touch her cloak. Spinning round she came face to face with a young lad of about fifteen.
“What are you doing creeping around my home” he asked in a refined accent that really belied his attire “
“Well ” Morgarna replied “I actually have business with your parents young man, are they at home ?”
The young man shrugged his shoulders “if you mean are they in the den then yes they are.”
Putting out her cigarette and offering the lad her hand she Introduced herself as Morgarna Le Fey.”
After shaking hands they both entered the den.

Morgarna was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the den, it was surprisingly cosy. With a couple of chairs a table and some bedding to one side.
There were three other children one a babe in arms held tightly by a nervous looking woman who was obviously not used to living like this! Her husband too was regarding Morgarna with caution.
“Mr and Mrs Devereau how are you l am Morgarna and I am here to help you.” Finishing with a smile that she hoped would put everyone at ease.
“Please madam, come in and take a seat. Though how you can help us I fail to see.” replied Mr Devereau with a frown. Turning to the young lad he said, “William, fetch us some water and let’s have some tea.’
William, turned on his heels and picking up a bucket left the den.

Morgarna open her bag and got her notes out. ” I see , Mr and Mrs Devereau that you have been thrown out of your home by uncle Percival who has taken command of your money and all your buisness affairs and thrown you both out penniless. This cannot be allowed to happen as one of your children, and I cannot say who, has an important part to play in history. ” Raising a hand to silence Mr and Mrs Devereau, she continued. ” So I need to know as much as I can about your house and your current situation then I can set about righting recent events.

The next morning Morgarna and William approached Oldstoke House. “Well this is a very impressive house ” Morgarna said as they approached the the rear entrance through the kitchen gardens.
Just as they reached the servants entrance Morgana noticed the ice house just off to the left. It was a round building, large and made of hewn stone, giving the appearance of a castle turret.

Door – Image by KL Caley. For visually challenged writersthe image shows a grey wooden traditional door set amongst some stone walls.

Catching William by the arm she asked him, “Wills, can I call you Wills?” William nodded and smiled. “Is there, by any chance a tunnel from the ice house to the Main House.”
William, smiled and nodded , “Father always said there was apparently it’s been there since the days of the Round Heads and Chaviliers civil war! and it’s connected to a priest hole in the Library. The thing is Morgarna I don’t know where the entrance to the tunnel is in there ” William’s face crumpled with concern.
“Don’t you worry about that Wills I will be able to find it, no worries and as for the house I have the plans of that on my mobile….I mean in my instructions” She said smiling at William then as if she had a sudden thought she added. “Do you know where the key to the ice house is Wills?”
Smiling broadly William nodded , “Yes I do, there is a spare on top of the door lintel , cook is always leaving hers hanging up in the kitchen!”
Excellent thought Morgarna, “Now you get back to your parents Wills, I can manage from here! We will soon have things back how they should be!

As William headed back to the woods and the den, Morgarna lit a cigarette and had a couple of sluggs of Bacardi and coke from her flask. I think I will just have a few minutes in the sun before I begin the task in hand.

Cigarette finished Morgana reached her arm up to the top of the lintel and found the key. She opened the door replaced the key and went in.

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Eleven years ago I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " not quite but with the help of a walking stick and as long as I do not stand or sit in one position for too long, I am still standing! Update I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust, I will of been married 50yrs plus this year . Pain and boredom are my enemies now, I have to find different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light ?? I need to update this a little here. I have worked very hard over the years since my accident, I go to the gym regularly, I have a Pilates class and a core class once a week . The guys at the gym and my Pilates teacher cajoled, teased, bullied and encouraged me to abandon my walking stick! :) My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and as strongly as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

    1. Of course she is Immortal and as she proved earlier in the saga she can heal any wounds, eg her broken hip in Sussex! She can drink to oblivion too 💜💜

  1. Brilliant installment, Willow. I got myself all confused with the images – haha. Came back for a second look and glad I did or I would have missed this weeks edition (sacrilige!). KL ❤

    1. Drinking and driving… Luckily she doesn’t have to drive there and back for more than anomaly… But she is not above using Merlin’s BMW when intoxicated or angry! Being immortal she takes liberties with everything, drink, cigarettes, chocolate and food! 💞

  2. Love it, Willow – that bit I will yell out

Now in a very whispered voice – if I didn’t know better I’d swear Morgana is some one I used to know
