Throwback Thursday #29 – Sports and Extracurricular Activities

Welcome back to Throwback Thursday. Last week we took on childhood cures with Lauren. This week we are going to discover a little more about how you spent your extra time. We would love to have you join us – all are welcome. This week’s prompt is from Maggie. Extracurricular Activities

  1. Did you belong to any clubs? No I didn’t not one. I do remember I loved looking after the silk worms we had in infants and the early part of junior school.
  2. Did you stay after school for activities? If so, how did you get home? Lol only if I got detention and I walked home .
  3. We’re you involved in sports? If so, which ones? Were you good at them, mediocre, or at least trying? We played tennis, netball, there were all the usual athletics, hockey and La cross. I was not good at the ball games as I never saw the ball until it hit me in the face. 🤣🤣 I played wing defense in netball and over time broke at least four fingers in the process.
  4. What was your favorite school related sports or physical activity? I was not good at gym or games really ..the gym mistress really did not like me because I was so useless, I couldn’t climb the ropes or balance on the bar, jump the horse! I was a fat child untill I reached eleven! I did like netball though I was not any good. I was the girl who got picked last for any team 😆
  5. Did you hold any leadership roles in school? Me? Seriously?no!
  6. Did you play football, basketball, or some other sport or were you a cheerleader? We didn’t have cheerleaders in the U.K. back then but I’d of loved all that! I was in the choir and the drama groups and loved those very much. I was never in the top groups though so never got to travel anywhere or visit other schools.
  7. Did you travel after school, on weekends, or in the summer for any activities?  Where did you go? No as I said above I was never good enough to be picked to travel with or represent the school. Though I did go on the odd day trip with the school. Places like Longleat, Museums and art galleries.
  8. Did you receive letters, awards, or certificates for your involvement? No 😮
  9. Did you belong to any organizations that were not associated or sponsored by your school? I was never in the brownies or girl guides, but I was in church choires and I went to a youth club …that’s where I met hubby when I was Thirteen.
  10. Were you on any school committees such as yearbook, prom committee, etc.? No, not me never the nuns would never of allowed me!
