Throwback Thursday #24 – Commercials and Jingles

Welcome back to Throwback Thursday. Maggie and Lauren’s brainchild Lauren has us stretching our memory banks once again to remember commercials and advertising jingles. Head over to her blog to get the details, and then join in!

This week’s prompt is: Commercials and Jingles.

When I was just pre teens I loved to tune the radio in the bedroom into Radio Luxembourg and listen all the last “pop music” The of course had lots of Jingles

We didn’t get a T.V. until I was about thirteen but I do remember that some of the adverts were better than the T.V. shows.

There was the Nimble Bread advert for slimers. Oh! I loved that advert.

Then there was the iconic Levi 501 advert. Hot, hot, hot!

Of course I have to fit in a coke advert and I like this one because it’s different!

Another favourite was the R.Whites Lemonade.

The old Hamlet cigars advert . You might have to watch this one in YouTube.

Of course the two new Emerates Airways adverts ….hold on to your heads!

The Sainsbury’s Christmas advert 2014

Okay there are so many wonderful adverts, the ‘For mash get Smash’ the Pillsbury Doughboy, but I am stopping now with the original Shake and Vac advert

Happy memories everyone 💜

A Love Song from February 1922 and new prompt: A Very Random Challenge ~ Love Is In Da Blog 2022.

Today Bee has me beat today, she asked us to use a love song from February 1922..

Well I spent ages looking for one. The best I could manage was a lovely Al Jolson song from May.

Angel Child by Al Jolson.

Al Jolson (born Asa Yoelson; May 26, 1886 – October 23, 1950) was an American singer, comedian, actor, and vaudevillian. Self-billed as “The World’s Greatest Entertainer”, Jolson is credited with being America’s most famous and highest-paid star of the 1920s. He was known for his “shamelessly sentimental, melodramatic approach”, and for popularizing many of the songs he performed. Jolson has been referred to by modern critics as “the king of blackface performers”.
