Thank you Bee 🐝 for this month of love songs you’ve done a great job, congratulations to everyone who joined in 💜
Today Bee has reminded us of the sadness and horror of War . I will join her with music and a poem too.
So many wars. All over the world from when man first walked the Earth til now. when will learn?…. Here is a poem I started to write when I was eleven years old , I am still adding verses.
WAR.
Death, Desolation, Destruction! Men taught hate men taught to wait til death comes to claim them.
Stink, Stench, Smell of bodies sinking in the mud tell their own story. Is this man’s best glory.
Drench, Damp Dripping their guns are filthy, bullets all spent . They all gave up hoping.
Boom,Bang Whistle, they no longer hear they no longer fear the hair on their necks no longer bristle.
Dead all dead and left to rot . This was the war to end all wars ……….. How soon we all forgot.
War
Sear, Smear Singe . Nothing has changed in the theatre of war they are battling still on the fringe they know the score.
Shout , Scream Squeal they will still advance they have lost the ability to feel. No longer human their souls are worn out and why are they out there? Can you answer beyond any doubt.
Sun ,Sand, Storms fight for your life, fight for your sight fight freedom for all ..as if that day will ever dawn wait to hear the cock call!
Death, Desolation, Destruction! Men taught hate men taught to wait til death comes to claim them.

Death, Destruction, Pestilence, and Famine. A very apt prompt for today’s Song Lyric Sunday.
This week Jim Adams our host said “When I think about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I think of Trump, Putin, Kim Jong Un and Xi Jinping ” Well I totally agree with they are and to be honest they really are the epitome of Evil.
When I think of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I am afraid to say say they are all already here. They have always been here, War a new one each week, Famine ever present too, Death our constant companion and pestilence has been here always too but in the last two years it’s been here big time with Covid in all its varients. Yes the four spheres at the table are ever present.
So to continue in this happy vein my first choice was Chris De Burgh and the vision in this song he mentions the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Into the Light is the eighth studio album by British-Irish singer Chris de Burgh, released in 1986 by A&M Records. The album is notable for featuring de Burgh’s biggest hit, “The Lady in Red“.
The album peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart, becoming de Burgh’s first studio album to enter the top ten.
“Fatal Hesitation” was a UK number 44 hit, spending four weeks on the chart. “Say Goodbye to It All” was a continuation of the song “Borderline” from 1982’s The Getaway. Both songs frequently appear in de Burgh’s concerts and compilation albums. The song “For Rosanna” is dedicated to de Burgh’s then-2-year-old daughter Rosanna.
The three Chris de Burgh songs used in “Everybody’s in Showbiz”, “The Leader”, “The Vision” and “What About Me?”, are played in the order they appear on de Burgh’s Into the Light album. In fact, the songs each segue into one another, creating what is effectively a single eight-and-a-half minute track with three distinct sections. The songs are sometimes referred to as the “Leader Trilogy”.
The “Leader Trilogy” is arguably the longest song sample used on Miami Vice, as the entire eight-and-a-half minutes of the song are used. However, it is technically comprised of three separate tracks that make up one continuous piece of music; the longest single track featured is “Brothers in Arms” by Dire Straits, from “Out Where the Buses Don’t Run”. Information from Wikipedia
The tack I have chosen is the Vision which track 11 on the above album.
The Vision
And I saw a burning chariot,
And the four horsemen of the apocalypse,
Waiting on high,
And I heard the thunder rolling in,
And behold our leader on a pale horse riding in the sky;
And I saw this land a battlefield,
With a hundred thousand men,
Fighting hand to hand,
And I heard the sounds of victory,
And the rivers ran red with the blood of our enemies;
And I, I saw fire from the sky,
I saw fire, and I saw paradise, (paradise, )
Fire from the sun, I saw fire,
And I saw Alpha and Omega;
Fire, I saw fire,
And I saw paradise, (paradise, )
Fire, I saw fire;

Okay my second choice is a cheery little ditty, is Pigs of War by Black Sabbath.
“War Pigs” is a song by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1970 album and the opening track from the band’s second studio album Paranoid (1970).
The original title of “War Pigs” was “Walpurgis”, dealing with the witches’ sabbath. “Walpurgis is sort of like Christmas for Satanists. And to me, war was the big Satan”, said bassist and lyricist Geezer Butler. “It wasn’t about politics or government or anything. It was Evil itself. So I was saying ‘generals gathered in the masses / just like witches at black masses’ to make an analogy. But when we brought it to the record company, they thought ‘Walpurgis’ sounded too Satanic. And that’s when we turned it into ‘War Pigs’. But we didn’t change the lyrics, because they were already finished.”
During this time period, mandatory army service had recently ended in Britain but with the Vietnam War raging, many young men feared they’d be conscripted to fight in it. “That’s what started this whole rebellion thing about not going to war for anybody”, said Butler. “I was dreading being called up”, the lyricist recalled.
Prior to its official release, the band often altered the lyrics significantly when performing it live. An example of this can be found on Ozzy Osbourne‘s compilation The Ozzman Cometh, which features an early version recorded by Black Sabbath for BBC Radio 1 on 26 April 1970. While Butler has said that “War Pigs” is “totally against the Vietnam War, about how these rich politicians and rich people start all the wars for their benefit and get all the poor people to die for them”, vocalist Osbourne has stated that the group “knew nothing about Vietnam. It’s just an anti-war song.” The song’s instrumental iutro is entitled “Luke’s Wall” on US releases of the album, formatted as “War Pigs/Luke’s Wall”.
Drummer Bill Ward‘s first memory of performing the song was at The Beat Club in Switzerland in 1968. The band was required to play multiple sets every night and had little material in their repertoire at that point, so they would perform lengthy jam sessions to fill in the sets. Co-writer and lead guitarist Tony Iommi has said that “War Pigs” originated from one of those jam sessions.
The addition of the air-raid siren and the speeding up of the song’s end were done by producer Rodger Bain and engineer Tom Allom. The band had no input in these decisions, though they were pleased with the results. Information Wikipedia
War Pigs
Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death’s construction
In the fields, the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh lord, yeah!
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor, yeah
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!
Now in darkness, world stops turning
Ashes where their bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan laughing, spreads his wings
Oh lord, yeah!

It’s Saturday again and time for Linda to give us our prompt for SoCs, she says: Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “rest.” Use it any way you like. Enjoy!
As I sit here in my quiet kitchen, in my quiet house in a quiet road pondering what’s happening in Europe. I didn’t get much rest last night but at least I have my own roof over my head and there are no Russian tanks or bombs or troops out side my door. Unlike the people of Ukraine who have had no rest or quiet since Putin decided to invade.
I, like the rest of world hold my breath as we appear to be on the edge of war. Putin waited his moment, he waited until the China Winter Olympics were over to invade, his troops had been on “manoeuvres” on the Russian/Ukraine boarders.
It all came home to me the other day when our eldest son rang me, his first words were, “Hi Mum, I went to bed normally and woke up to war” I agreed with him this is a serious situation.
Personally I thought we had put the dogs of war to rest but in all honesty the ghosts of war never rest. They lie in wait for a mad, bad, evil, dictator and then they slip their leash. Sadly another, who we have known of for years finally crossed the line and crossed the boarders.
Hidden in basements, underground carpark and train stations with their children, dogs and cats, forced out of their homes…no rest for them. Quques of people walking and driving to cross the boarders of their home country no rest for them. Quques of men young and old and in-between waiting to sign up to defend their country. Many of these men have never seen or had any training for war many will holding a weapon for the first time. No rest to for them.
I cannot rest watching videos of the people of the Ukraine telling us their stories and asking why they have received no help or support, no troops from NATO or the U.S. coming to their aid. I do understand that any movement to assist the Ukraine will be the excuse Putin wants to declare war on the rest of us.
So many times throughout history this has happened not least in Europe but all over the world. ‘It only takes a few good men to do nothing for evil to prevail ‘ a slight miss quote on what Edmund Burke said but it is true.
I shall rest my case here and though I try not to mention political subjects but my conscience will not let me rest.

Welcome back to Throwback Thursday. Lauren took us back to family vacations last week. This week we are here to talk about those childhood dreams that may or may not have come to fruition. Maggie chose the subject this week.
Do you remember what you first wanted ‘to be’ when you grew up?
Yes I do I wanted to be dancer …but not for long. I soon realized what I wanted to be was a space traveller or a fashion designer.
Any idea what inspired that dream?
My first love was music and lyrics there was always plenty of each around at home. Lots of different genres because I had lots of brothers and sisters…cousins …friends excetera. Then I fell in love with space. That probably came from my brother’s books and comics and the radio programs they listened to.
My more attainable goal as a child was to get in to fashion. I loved clothes and spent hours designing clothes or pretending to be a catwalk model. I actually became a windowdresser….my love of fashion won out .
What ‘job’ did you most emulate in play?
Being a dancer and a space fighter pilot and of course being a fashion designer or model. I loved the paper dolls that came with girls comics, they always came with several outfits….and I would often make my own designs.
I often dressed up in one of mum’s old curtains, making myself a Sari, then using one of mum’s straw baskets I would pretend to be an Indian tea picker, taking the leaves off of dad’s privet hedge. …I had seen a picture of Indian ladies doing this job on a tea tin .
Did you have any idea what salary or pay you thought you would have?
Well as long as I had food and drink on my space travels and a uniform of sorts I don’t think I gave money much thought. As a dancer I didn’t really think about it. As for a designer I assumed I would be rolling it in …🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Were there careers you knew you did NOT want to do?
I never wanted to be a Nun, Surgeon, Butcher, or Sewage Worker….I am a tad squimish.
Were you ever encouraged to follow in the footsteps of a family member?
I was very lucky my parents always encouraged me to follow my dreams. My sisters were very clever, one was a teacher, one a nurse and the third was a fashion designer. Yes she was a fashion designer who travelled and worked around the world, New York, Paris, Lyon, Rome, Milan, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong…ect. her life always looked glamorous to me as a child. A brother in the army and an other an electrician.
I think Mum and Dad would of been happy had I of followed any of my siblings.
Were you ever urged to join a family business?
No there was none to follow. Mum had her own hairdresser’s salon until she met my dad and he was a London Transport Bodymaker, which meant he made the seating upholstery for London Tubes and Buses
Were you ever discouraged from a particular field? If so, why?
No never .
Did you have a Career Fair at school?
Not that I remember, I do remember one of the Nuns telling me I’d never amount to much and probably shame my parents?
As an adult looking back, do you ever wish you had taken the direction of your childhood dreams?
Well yes I would of loved to have been a starship fighter pilot. I love all space and sifi, books, film or shows.
*******
My mother always said “be careful what you wish for. You don’t always get what you want.”
But I wish was Starbuck a starship pilot……..
Beneath this hard exterior there’s no soft marshmallow goo, there beats a heart of stone.
There’s never been any support for me so what I’ve achieved I’ve done on my own.
My parent’s never cared for me much so I never make any deep ties.
The only true love in my life is my star ship and the skies!
There’s only one man who could ever touch my soul but fate always intervenes ,
When I get together with Will Adarma there’s usually ugly drunken scenes.
I think he only sees me as one of the lads, so I pretend I don’t give a frack.
But I want him, so ladies I’m first in line and you’re at the back.
We have to save the worlds from the evil Cylon attack
We had them beaten once , but they evolved and now they’re coming back.
They have morphed to chrome and blood all covered with skin.
They are clever now, they infiltrated Caprica with spies
They blew up our worlds so we took the fleet and flew into the skies.
In Space we regrouped and planned, and I got to work closely with my man.
I will lead what’s left of our pilots and beloved ships
I am the best star fighter pilot but the fracks won’t give me shoulder pips.
It’s true I like a drink, gambling and a good cigar.
I am damn good in bed I’ll give you a good time what ever rank you are!
I am the best pilot as I have said before
I shall find the Cylon’s mothership and give the frackers what for!
I’ll rip the skin off Number Six and I’ll show her no quarter.
She beat the living crap out of me and then denied me even water.
I’ll lead you all to safety find you all another world
For I am really an angel that keeps her wings tight furled!
I am that star you see at night when it is darkest before the dawn.
I am the one who will shoot straightest so none of you need be forlorn.
I am the mighty Starbuck , Kara Thrace is my real name .
But what ever you call me I shall save you all the fracking same!
I wish I was a heroine who leads her people to a new life. Just to disappear and leave them on a green new planet to start a new life. For them to discover that to be their guardian angel was the point of my life.

.
Yup that should of been me! willow but I was born too soon.
Being a window dresser was good though.
To end up a song about growing up my my favourite Immi.

Today Bee has asked us to pick a love song from today’s charts. Well this is a harsh , possibly a break up song, but a love song after all.
l have always loved the Gallagher brothers ever since our middle son played them loud and proud when he was younger….he still sends me their new tracks. He sent me this one the other week. I have posted a video with the lyrics as I think Liam, in this case, and Noel both write great Lyrics.
