One-Liner Wednesday. Hanging on the telephone.

After ringing and quequing to make an appointment ( for a telephone consultation, it’s like getting hen’s teeth to get an actual appointment) the One-Liner ” please hold your call is important to us, we will be with you as soon as a receptionist is free” repeated every sixty seconds really does not ring true.

It took one hour and fifteen minutes on two phones to get through!

Part of LindaGHill’s One-Liner Wednesday.

You’re right, it rings patently false.

Our surgery is usually like that, but since being voted the worst in the county, judging from yesterday’s call and service, they are trying to improve things. It only took 10 minutes to get through, 10 minutes on hold, and the doc called us back 20 minutes after that (mind you, she usually calls us early anyway!)

That’s terrible! I’ll often set my phone down with the Speaker option turned up. I am still subjected to their message repeatedly, though!

I feel like I’m being lied to when I’m on hold forever and hear, “Your call is important to us.” Argh.

I was in the phone for over an hour on hold for the bank. Finally went in and found a teller but no bankers?!! It seems a lot of businesses are similar now.

I know the feeling. Just today, we had to call AAA to get our van towed (my husband was in an accident–he’s okay, but the van isn’t). Anyway, we spent quite a while trying to find our way past the voicemail. And then they actually have the nerve to say, ” We know your time is important, so we will have an associate with you shortly. Or you can always go online…” And the part that they don’t say aloud is: “…and then we won’t have to deal with you at all.”

    Grrr. : )
