WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 227, #THEMEPROMPT

Go where this month’s prompt leads you

It Tuesday and time for Colleen’s Tuesday Tanka Challenge. It’s the fourth week of the month! Are you ready for a theme prompt? Colleen didn’t hear from Padre whose turn it was to select the theme… so, Colleen has picked the theme prompt for us.

Travel/Journeys.

I was seventeen when we married, 19years when the first boy arrived and 30years when the third and last boy appeared. Well now they had all grown and flown. It is now our time. So we renewed our passports and set off on our travels. The pandemic put a stop to that but we are on life’s journey, we are travelling together.

Following life’s road
We have traversed fifty years.
We’ve grown together.
Boy and girl, man and woman.
Three generations of love.

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Eleven years ago I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " not quite but with the help of a walking stick and as long as I do not stand or sit in one position for too long, I am still standing! Update I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust, I will of been married 50yrs plus this year . Pain and boredom are my enemies now, I have to find different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light ?? I need to update this a little here. I have worked very hard over the years since my accident, I go to the gym regularly, I have a Pilates class and a core class once a week . The guys at the gym and my Pilates teacher cajoled, teased, bullied and encouraged me to abandon my walking stick! :) My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and as strongly as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

  1. Aww this is so lovely. I also met my hubby when I was very young! Sometimes it’s just meant to be! And yes we had plans to travel too. Hopefully that happens for us both Willow.
    ❤ x

      1. That’s all that counts. If you can find your way back to friendship most of the ups and downs can be conquered. 🤗💜

      1. Happy early 50th anniversary! This one should be celebrated all year long:)

  2. Wow the trip of a lifetime over and over again with the one you love is certainly worth waiting for.

Pandemic aside, it’s going to be an awesome journey.

Have fun and hey be good, just like me 😁

    Andro

    1. Hey Andro how are you doing, I was just thinking of you the other day! I do hope you are well. .. We do plan to travel more, once the rules become less stringent. Not this year maybe we can start again next year. Be safe and well 💜

      1. Yes I’m fine thank you, a little fed up of this crazy Pandemic and all of its difficulties, well we adjust and continue, but it would be nice to have a more normal existence.

I hope you and your hubby are making a long list of countries to visit, best start with the more safer ones and theb see how the others cope with vaccination roll outs.

The main thing is to keep following the basic government guidelines and keeping as safe as possible, of which I’m sure you’re an expert at by now 🤔😲 lol

Are you on FB by any chance? I went there after I stopped blogging on WP but I’m now returning here, and spending less time on there.

We are creatures of experience, so keep doing what you love, and soon, you will be back to your adventures.

        Keep Safe

        Andro x

      2. I am glad you are coming back to WordPress you’ve been missed. I don’t spend much timewasters on Facebook but I am there as Willow Willers. As I say not onthere much .
We do have a list of places to visit , yes we are good at hands – face – space …lol. I hope you have come through unscathed, we lost hubby’s mother to Covid, though she did make her 100th Birthday , also our middle son was very unwell with Covid at Christmas. The world keeps turning and as you say we are creatures of experience.💜

      3. I’m very sorry about your loss, and that your son was very poorly, the virus has ripped through our world and changed all of our lives.

So far everything here is fine, but of course we all wish that our lives could return to a more safer level without restrictions and rules, though without those basic of health measures the consequences would have been even more chaotic and dangerous.

I tried coming back here a while back but to be honest I just wasn’t motivated enough and my WordPress space was left to the Zombies, vampires and skeletons to do their own thing 🙄😮 lol

I will endeavor to try harder this time around and thank you for calling by and taking an interest, it’s really great seeing you my dear.

Have a super weekend, keep safe, and be good, just like me 🤣😮

        (((Hugs)))

        Andro x

      4. Good like you? Maybe I could do better than that ! Yes it’s been a very hard year but we recover and survive. Life goes on we must all make the effort and try.
I am so glad to see you here do try and stay 💜

      5. I am hoping to make more of an effort this time around, it’s amazing how many have left from my original friends list, but blogging did drop off quite a bit so I guess they decided not to return.

Your blog certainly looks great, I will keep popping by to read and add my thoughts my dear friend, and again, thank you for not deleting me from your list of friends.

        Enjoy your Sunday.

        Andro x

      6. I would not delete you Andro, nor anyone who has been friendly or kind to me, the door is always on the latch . Just pop in anytime . I have found blogging a great source of help and pleasure in my life. I amazed at all the fantastic people I have met here. It always a good day when someone returns 💜

      7. You are very kind my lovely friend, I used to enjoy these everyday interactions more in WordPress so yes, I do need to flip off the latch and join in with you, who knows, I could even get back into writing every day like before.

Thank you for being such a warm and encouraging friend my dear Willow, I appreciate it.

        Andro x

  3. What a lovely poem, Willow! ❤ I can't believe you've been married 50 years! Wow! You both look great! ❤ (Remember that we don't capitalize the first letter of each line of our Japanese poetry. I'm reminding everyone. <3). Where will your first trip be to? ❤

    1. I am glad you like my poem. Thank you for the compliment! I know but I find it so hard not to use the capital letter at the beginning of a line…. It’s those nuns !!!!!! 😂💜💜💜

      1. LOL! I know… and for those of you who write prose poetry or freestyle poetry, it’s written differently than syllabic poetry. Even the Etheree and the nonet should be phrases—not sentences. I want you all to submit your poetry to journals and get accepted. ❤

      2. I’d not said anything before as I didn’t want to sound like the poetry police. But, with the poetry journal, I feel a responsibility to make sure everyone knows the correct way to write the poetry. ❤
