It’s the third week of the month! Time for an Ekphrastic #PhotoPrompt

This challenge explores Ekphrastic writing inspired by visual art and/or photographs. Anita Dawes from last month’s challenge has provided the photo for this month’s challenge:

Here are the forms we can use. Haiku, Senryu, Haiga, Gogyohka, Tanka, TankaProse, Renga, Solo-Renga, micropoetry, poetry, 5lines, Haibun, Prose, CinquainPoetry, Etheree, Nonet, Shadorma, Badger Hexastich, Abhanga, Diatelle.

I decided to try a Sedoka, but with a twist, so I wrote it without a rhyme to emphasize the dystopian dream feel. Call it poetic license.

Hues
Golden
My dreaming
Colours my life
Visions of the future.
A plethora of lost, dark days.
There’s no warmth in that burning golden hue.
Our happy home abandoned your old tram rotting.
I reach out hoping for reassurance.
But I am alone you are gone.
Fear grips and I awake
I am with you
My mood lifts
Soft light
Hues
