If Harry and Meghan left the Royal family to escape the press and media why are they courting it in America. Why not decide what they want? Royalty and Privileged and press and media interest or a quiet life and perhaps using some of their millions to do good.
They can’t have their cake and eat it too.

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown.The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Back in 2010 I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust. I will of been married 53yrs this comming year. I have found different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light. My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and be as strong as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. Yes Colin I do agree very strongly and they need to live a while in our shoes ! They either want privicy or they want publicity. Honest they have so much …they are ungrateful and ungracious.
Sorry Willow, but pre-judging is wrong in every perspective. Unless you have lived in their shoes, you cannot possibly understand the parameters against which they make their decisions. Being of English background myself, I can totally see how easy it is to criticize royalty, but then, it is so easy to criticize anybody who we don’t understand. Perhaps a position of compassion (they broke a long tradition which will have life-long ramifications), and understanding (they must have their reasons for taking this road) … would be a better approach?
Yes I totally agree but they are handling it very badly. Harry has no idea what real life is like. The privileged life he is leading now is the nearest he will get to the real world. I am not uncaring but really if you don’t want publicity do not seek it please.
Willow – You are totally missing my point so I will not pursue it any further. I find it very disappointing that a condemnation of others, based on superficial information, can be justified by some people. I have to assume that they believe in their own absolute perfection, and can therefore freely draw attention to the imperfections of others. Very sad.

They both want lotsa money and lots attention. They only have to open their stupid mouths and some TV chain will toss lotsa money into them. So they do it. Simple really. If the media would toss them lotsa money for sitting round the pool at the palace, of course, they’d like that even better.

Some of us would describe them as rich parasites like all the royal family, some of whom ought to be in prison.

Mary’s been following this with some interest here. She’s convinced that Meghan is leading Harry around by the nose and married him just for access to the title “Royal” so that she can use it for marketing purposes, which so far Elizabeth has denied her. Meanwhile, he wants to go back and resume his royal duties. I couldn’t care less.

I actually don’t know but can only imagine how difficult a life behind those royal walls must be. A very isolated life. However, it is not up to me to judge any side since I don’t know either. But I find it exemplary how Harry stands behind his wife and leaves the life he was used to and his family for her sake. It is not only a sign of deep love but also of a strong backbone and responsibility.
Yes indeed just like his Great Great Uncle Edward V111 and Mrs Simpson…. But that didn’t end well either. 💜
