Light a candle for the memory of the Holocaust.

At eight o’clock this evening we will light a candle to remember the Holocaust. Every year, those who lost their lives in the Holocaust are remembered and honoured on Holocaust Memorial Day.

The day is used to remember the six million Jews who were killed under Nazi persecutions as well as those who died in subsequent genocides of which sadly there are too many.

Please join us if you can we must never forget, we must never deny. It did happen it is still happening.

So important to remember. Thank you for this post. I did not know about the observance. When I was 9 years old I met another 9 year old girl in school. Her father had perished in the holocaust. Her mother was able to leave alive and my friend was raised by Catholics in France for earlier years. We had a good friendship. I would go to temple with her and she would come to church with me.

Such an awful history, but we must remember and work to prevent it happening again.

We cannot forget the Holocaust. I saw the death camps in Poland and in Germany in 1976. If we forget. It will happen again. And it did. I met a great Jewish man at German train station in 1976. He survived and he was was saved by a American soldier on this day in 1945. The soldier nursed him to good health. He never knew the soldier name. He wanted to buy me a meal. I accepted and I listen to him talk for a hour. He lived in Switzerland and he showed me his numbers on his arms. He told me. I lost everyone and I had to live to ensure they would not be forgotten. We cannot forget the people murdered by hate.

You are so right John there are so many who deny the Holocaust even happened. We have failed to stop it happening again. It happened in Bosnia, Rwander, and Libia We must keep it in our minds. We must be vigilant, thank you for reading John πŸ’œ

Hard to understand people who doubt history. Soldiers don’t lie. Read the Salinger book. The death camps of Jews messed him up more than the violence of war. I believe they hope. We forget. When I was station in Germany in 1977. They showed the movie, the Holocaust. I remember my German girlfriend crying. She didn’t know. The German try to erase this part of history. They try to erase the deeds of evil men.

Yes indeed they do try to hide it, I think they are lying to themselves πŸ’œ

We are safe in Michigan. Suppose to open the state up 25% on the first of Feb. I believe, a mistake. But the children need their bars open. I will be glad when we can do the normal things my dear friend.

I love this. A beautiful memorial remembering the Holocaust. We should all know the whole history of the Holocaust and never repeat it.
