It was late and the children had been playing up all afternoon. The whole home schooling thing was beginning to take its toll. Not only was Gav working in the dinning room, 8am to 5pm. Tamsine had to work in the kitchen plus cook, clean, teach, referee and generally cope with lockdown!
It was four thirty and dark already so taking a deep breath she said, “okay close the laptops down and shut your books . Upstairs in the bath and get your PJ’s on! ” As the children charged up the stairs towards the bathroom, Gav shouted from the dinning room, “quiet I am about to go on a call! “
Five minutes after the herd of elephants got up the stairs Tasmine heard a wail! “Mum there’s no hot water! ” Taking a deep breath Tasmine called up, ” hold on I will be up in a second”
Just then the phone rang, it was the school! ” “Hi Mrs Carson it’s Carole from Osborne School I wonder could I ask a favour.” Tasmine, smiled and said “ask away”. From up stairs she could hear the children running around.
It turned out the school was asking around to find any older laptops or tablets for the children who did not have these things at home. As it turned out she and Gav had both upgraded for work, they had given the children their old ones. So it turned out they had did have two laptops and an older tablet in the cupboard. She be happy to donate those if that would help.
As she rushed up the stairs to find the three children milling round the bathroom with their older sister trying to get the tap to work. “There’s no water Mum”….
Tasmine cursed under her breath….the perfect end to the perfect day! Not. “Who was on the phone” asked Karly . Tamsine smiled ,”school, they need any older laptops or tablets for the children who’s parents have not got any. “
“Kool” Kally thought. …. In desparation , just as she thought she’d have ask Gav for help a gurgle started rumbling in the attic… Down the pipes and into the bath. Lovely hot water ! Yes !! Tasmine thought there is a God, this is Karma.
