Stream of Consciousness Saturday is brought to you each week by Linda Hill
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “check/cheque/Czech.” Use one, use ’em all, use ’em any way you’d like. Have fun!
A good few years back hubby attended the wedding of his cousin’s son in the Czech Republic, it was a different affair. Broken plates, and beautiful cakes that did not taste beautiful. It was an occasion he should of avoided but as no one else in his family could be bothered to put themselves out he went to represent them all.
Now as banks are fast vanishing from our high streets along with most things these days the life of the cheque is drawing to a close. In fact it is almost a thing of the past. You can no longer use them in most places of business. But while banks are hanging on by their nails for now, I don’t think they will much longer. You can do all transactions non line, on your computer, phone or mobile. We can even pay cheques in by an app on our phones now, until it’s final demise.
There used to be a TV show called Blankety Blank, it was a quizz show and the winner received a Blankety Blank Trophy in the shape of a cheque book and pen.
Now let me check, I have dealt with, Czech and Cheque all that leaves is Check which I have just used in the first sentence of this paragraph. Shall I expand? Why not this is SoCs after all. In the last job I did before I retired I worked on the customer service desk in a large supermarket and often if the store was busy I would help out on the check – out tills. We used to accept, cash, cards and cheques with accompanying bank card, coupons and vouchers. Well that is not the case now. Cash, cheques and probably vouchers are no longer really acceptable thanks to Covid19 so times are as always changing. No cheques, but lots of checks at the door, depending where you are entering, mask, temperature, gloves. As for Czechs unless they already live here they may not be allowed to enter the country without checks being carried out. Bribery with a cheque won’t help them.

Rants, humor, sarcasm, and a haiku-like substance? It's hard to know what's going to come out of our minds next.
