The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 16/2020. Want.

Shelley Krupa

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “want.” Make the word “want” the first, second, or third word of your post. Have fun!

Want, we all have wants, some just have bigger wants than others. Before Covid19 most people, let’s call them the haves, wanted possessions, cars, gadgets, clothes, homes, holidays. The rest, let’s call them the have nots, just wanted, a roof over their heads, food on the table, and a job.

Now I want to believe that since Covid19 there has been a sea change and people are more caring and giving. I am not convinced, I know some are, many are, yet many have not changed one iota.

My Pandemic Song.

Tell me what I want, what I really, really want. ….If you want be my saviour, if you want to be my friend you’d make sure the war on want will end.

Do I want to self isolate, do I really, really want to self isolate, after all it not that much fun. Self distancing not easy when your street’s overrun! Do we want a park do we really, really, really want a park, we zigga zag do!

Do government’s give a Zig a Zig Ya?Do they, do they….. do they….Nah!

So what’ya really want, what’ya really, really want? Helping hands are great but what happens when the crisis ends.

Do ya really want a mask, do ya really, really want a mask? Are they going to protect you, is the question you gotta ask?

Do government’s give a Zig a Zig Ya?Do they, do they….. do they….Nah!

I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want. Is some clarity, so far it all confusion you see. I wanna know, really, really want to know what the rules are, before we all sink too far.

Do government’s give a Zig a Zig Ya? Do they, do they….. do they….Nah!

So what we want, what we really, really want, is honesty. If we all work together world wide we could be virus free.

I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna I wanna really, really, really wanna zig-a-zig ah!

Do you want to queue do you really, really want to queue, well if you want to eat that’s what you got to do. Oo.

If you want be my saviour, if you want to be my friend, you’d make sure the war on want would end.

Do government’s give a Zig a Zig Ya? Do they, do they….. do they….Nah!

with apologies to the Spice Girls.

Ritu Sis if you fancy singing this I be so honoured 🌹🌹🌹🌹

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Eleven years ago I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " not quite but with the help of a walking stick and as long as I do not stand or sit in one position for too long, I am still standing! Update I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust, I will of been married 50yrs plus this year . Pain and boredom are my enemies now, I have to find different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light ?? I need to update this a little here. I have worked very hard over the years since my accident, I go to the gym regularly, I have a Pilates class and a core class once a week . The guys at the gym and my Pilates teacher cajoled, teased, bullied and encouraged me to abandon my walking stick! :) My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and as strongly as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

  1. This is such a cool rewrite! I totally understand about wanting to believe most people have changed, but it’s hard to believe.

      1. Agree, though the brave new world written about in the book by that title is more like our current overly-regulated society.

      1. I believe we are going to have to move abroad earlier than our planned end of next year now, Willow. There is going be massive crime, social unrest and starvation here in Southern AFrica. I don’t think it will be safe to drive down the road. Already, people are being mugged and attacked while queuing outside shops.

      2. Oh! Robbie that’s so bad , it’s like things are stepping backwards. Where are you thinking of moving to . I wonder when we will be able to travel the world again. Sending you love and peace 💙

      3. I am keen to live in Kent as that is where my roots are. Terence has family in Redding so he fancies living around there. Work opportunities and schools are also driving factors.

      4. Kent is lovely and you know it, I believe you have visited? When you say Redding do you mean Reading in Berkshire, if you do it’s about 12 miles from where we live now. Both good places to live 💜
