Ronovanwrite’sDécima Poetry Challenge #5. Mate.

The Huntsman.

Image from Pixabay

Cruel hunter kills the feamale

Uncaring of her young ones plight.

One wonders will he sleep this night.

Oblivious to storking male

The huntsman sits and quaffs his ale.

Heart broken by loss of his mate

Bear moves in, full of hate.

The human creature kills for sport

For the life he stole he cares nought

Death too gruesome to contemplate.

Some humans have a lot to answer for, Willow. There are many who do care for animals too.

I had to look up storking…
And I so loathe hunters to hunt just to kill. Hunting for meat is ok… anything else, no.

Yep, had to look up storking as well, but that’s what I like about doing challenges, you expand your vocabulary.

Nice Décima. I just like saying Décima, or Espinela. I feel so cultured. I agree with the message of the poem. My family and their friends are hunters but it’s always for food, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to afford a lot of basic necessities. I fortunately don’t have that problem. I went hunting twice. Once for deer, didn’t see any. Once for dove/pigeon. I shot high. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)

Thanks for joining in on the challenge. I know it’s going to take a while to get going.

I have flummoxed a couple of people using storking instead of stalking, sorry. Hunting for food is fine But for trophies or the thrill of it no! I like this new, to me genre I shall keep trying 💜
