Song Lyric Sunday.Give/Get/Take/Receive/Send

It’s Sunday again and time for Song Lyric Sunday, brought to us by our brill host Jim Adams. Our prompt this week for March 15, 2020 is Give/Get/Take/Receive/Send

Okay firstly lets go with Gamma Pulse and Give and Take.

Give & Take” is a song by Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky. The song was released on 16 January 2012 as a digital download in the United Kingdom. It became the first single from his second album 2. The single peaked at number 196 on the UK Singles Chart, number 30 on the UK Dance Chart and number 28 on the UK Indie Chart. Information here.

Gamma Pulse released this song in 2015.

My second choice is Alanis Morissette singing Receive

Alanis Nadine Morissette (born June 1, 1974) is a Canadian-American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. Known for her emotive mezzo-soprano voice, Morissette began her career in Canada in the early 1990s with two mildly successful dance-pop  albums.Afterwards, as part of a recording deal, she moved to Holmby Hills, Los Angeles and in 1995 released Jagged Little Pill, a more rock-oriented album which sold more than 33 million copies globally and is her most critically acclaimed work. Her follow-up album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, was released in 1998. More info here.

Receive” is a song by Canadian-American recording artist Alanis Morissette, released as the third single from her eighth studio album, Havoc and Bright Lights (2012). The song was written by Morissette and Guy Sigsworth, and produced by Joe Chiccarelli. It is a rock ballad about a relationship in which one person gives more than the other, and the wear it causes to the people involved.

And finally memories of my childhood the wonderful Adam Faith singing Send a Message to Martha (Kentucky Bluebird).

Terence Nelhams-Wright (23 June 1940 – 8 March 2003), known as Adam Faith, was an English teen idol, singer, actor and financial journalist. He was one of the most charted acts of the 1960s.He became the first UK artist to lodge his initial seven hits in the Top 5. He was also one of the first UK acts to record original songs regularly.

Spread your wings for New Orleans
Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Martha, message to Martha
She sings each night in some caf?
In her search to find wealth and fame
I hear Martha has gone and changed her name

It’s a year since she was here
Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Martha, message to Martha
Tell her I love her more each day
As the train pulled out down the track
Martha promised she’d soon be coming back

Oh, tell her how my heart just breaks in two
Since she journeyed far
And even though her dreams of fame fell through
To me she will always be a star

Spread your wings for New Orleans
Kentucky bluebird, fly away
And take a message to Martha, message to Martha
Tell her to start for home today
When you find her please let her know
Rich or poor, I will always love her so

Fly away, Kentucky bluebird
Fly away, Kentucky bluebird
Fly away, fly away, fly away

You have provided quite the musical roller coaster this morning for us, Willow. All three being very valid choices, I would have to say my favorite was the Alanis…

I did not know Adam Faith but I heard Message To Martha (Kentucky Bluebird) by Jay & The Americans. I enjoyed the Alanis Morissette song and Gamma Pulse was also interesting.

Of the 3, the last one is my favorite. He does the song justice. He certainly has a compelling look, so handsome! ❀
