For Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Challenge, you can write your poem in the forms defined on the Poetry Challenge Cheatsheet:

Poetry Form Cheats sheet. This tutorial will help poets learn the different forms to use for Colleen’s Weekly Syllabic Poetry Challenge. Image by Thought Catalog from Pixabay HAIKU IN ENGLISH: 5/7/5, 3/5/3, or 2/3/2 s…
I wrote my Haiku in the 5/7/5 form that I always use. Colleen suggested I the other forms of 3/5/3 and 2/3/2. Colleen even showed me an example of each. Well I try never to shrink from challenge so I am going to have a go .
Here is my original. The prompts were Calm and Present.

All still and pleasant
My mind is empty, peaceful
Time stops in the now.

3/5/3 Haiku
All is quiet
Live in the moment
Stilled softly

3/2/3 Haiku
Silent
Mindfulness
Time out
Thank you Colleen for encouraging me to try.

I’m so proud of you, Willow. Those abbreviated forms are difficult but you captured the feelings in those words. Haiku is about feelings and you nailed it! ❤
Jan 15, 2020 @ 18:55:44
Thank you Colleen, I have to admit I didn’t really want to try but you helped me try. I can see now it’s the feelings conveyed that matter 💜💜💜😁

Yes. I also can see why many poets want to write these more abbreviated forms. Look at the impact only a few words had… It’s like writing flash fiction. You have to choose the right words to tell the story. I’m so proud of you. ❤

Thank you Colleen, I am surprised by the new empathsis and impact the shortened version brings. I still like the 5/7/5 form but now my mind is open .💜

Yes! It’s so good to branch out and learn new things. We become better poets and observers of nature that way. ❤
