Song Lyric Sunday. 20/10/19.

Jim Adams at Newepiauthor has given us a new prompt October 20, 2019 Song Lyric Sunday. – Lean/Sit/Stand.

Not only that he has taken the time to make us a fantastic new badge. Well done Jim I love it!!

The first song that comes to mind is Sit down , stand up by Radiohead.

Radiohead are an English rock band formed in Abingdon-on-Thames in 1985. The band consists of Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), brothers Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments) and Colin Greenwood (bass), Ed O’Brien (guitar, backing vocals) and Philip Selway (drums, percussion). They have worked with producer Nigel Godrich and cover artist Stanley Donwood since 1994. Info from Wikipedia

From their Hail To the Thief Album 2003. I thought two out of three prompts is not bad!

Sit Down, Stand Up”

Sit down, stand up
Sit down, stand up
Walk into the jaws of hell (sit down, stand up)
Walk into the jaws of hell (sit down, stand up)
Anytime (sit down)
Anytime (stand up)
Sit down, stand up
Sit down, stand up
We can wipe you out anytime (sit down, stand up)
We can wipe you out (sit down, stand up)
Anytime (sit down)
Anytime
Stand up (the rain drops the rain drops)
Sit down (the rain drops the rain drops)
Oh
The rain drops [x46] yes that does say times forty six!

Lyrics from A to Z Lyrics

And I could let this go without this cheeky little ditty by James.

James are an English rock band from Manchester, who were formed in 1982 and enjoyed popularity throughout the 1990s. The band’s best-known singles include “Come Home“, “Sit Down“, “She’s a Star” and “Laid“, which also became a hit on American college radio. Info from Wikipedia

As much as I love Radiohead the James song always does it for me as miserable as it is it make me want to dance, I am dancing in my head come join me πŸ’œ

I love that James song. I read that when it was first released, it only reached Number 77 in the charts. In fact I think I have heard that original version, and it is not quite the track we know and love. They tinkered with it and re-released it a couple of years later and it became a huge hit.

The lyrics are actually quite moving, but just like you, it makes me want to dance! I have another post I was working on that describes me memory of that song at the first disco I ever went to.

Yes two out of three prompts is awesome. Never heard this haunting Sit Down Stand Up song before, but I like the drumming. This is also the first time that I heard of James and I like Sit Down.
