Song Lyric Sunday 7th September 2019.

Hi it’s Sunday again and time once more for Song Lyric Sunday. Our host Jim Adams has set us the prompt of: Bird/Fly/Sky/Wing.

My first thought was Gorge Harrison, my favourite Beatle taking the lead with his song Blue Jay Way. I do believe that is where he stayed for a while in the Hollywood Hills.

“Blue Jay Way”
Written by George Harrison.

There’s a fog upon L.A.,
And my friends have lost their way.
“We’ll be over soon,” they said.
Now they’ve lost themselves instead

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long for I may be asleep

Well, it only goes to show
And I told them where to go
Ask a policeman on the street
There’s so many there to meet

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long for I may be asleep

Now it’s past my bed I know
And I’d really like to go
Soon will be the break of day
Sitting here in Blue Jay Way

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long for I may be asleep

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long

Please don’t be long
Please don’t you be very long
Please don’t be long

Don’t be long, don’t be long, don’t be long
Don’t be long, don’t be long, don’t be long
Lyrics from A to Z Lyrics

And of course Spread your Wings by Queen . lyrics in the Video.

Pretty psychedelic. I like Magical Mystery Tour. Interesting that the part with him playing the organ drawn on the street is a different camera than what was used in the film…

Yes I don’t think that first part was in the film if my memory serves me well πŸ’œ

There is a part where he plays the organ drawn on the sidewalk. There are two Rolls Royce around him and written on the sidewalk in chalk is “Two Wives and a Child to Support”. He is busking the song. But it is from a very different angle, and, of course, all of the film people getting the set ready and such aren’t around.

Ah my favorite Beatle. Nice choice. Love Queen too. That piano and Freddie’s voice. That’s the stuff.

Never saw that video before. So psychedelic and rich with metaphor. Thank you for sharing, Willow! G is my favorite Beatle also πŸ™‚

I read that the house that Harrison stayed in on Blue Jay Way is up for sale and you can own it for 4 and a half million dollars.

I love the psychedelic edge to β€œBlue Jay Way”. My mom isn’t a big fan of Harrison but she does appreciate him. (My mom would play anything by the Beatles over and over when I was a kid.)

I used this in a totally different context this weekend. It’s a great song!
