It is Sunday July 21, 2019 and that means it’s time for Song Lyric Sunday from Jim Adams. This week our prompt words are – Wedding/Marry/Diamond/Ring/Cake.

Well I love the song Wedding Bell Blues originally written and recorded by Laura Nyro in 1966. The best known version was a number one hit for the 5th Dimension in 1969. More information here

Now my favourite version is by Morrisey Featuring Billy Joe Armstrong

It’s the best version, to my mind .

And of course there is always the Bruno Mars song Marry You,
from his debut studio album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010). Written and produced by The Smeezingtons, the track serves as the record’s sixth track and was released as a single outside of the United States. “Marry You” is a pop song featuring strong influences of doo-wop and soul music. The recording focuses on spontaneous marriage and therefore, since its release, has frequently been used as a proposal song.more information here.
