This week’s prompt from Jim Adams of NewEpicAuthor is Who/What/When/Where/Why/How.
Well I thought firstly what about Who , what, when, where by Manhattan Transfer. From 1978, it ticks all the boxes, well almost bar two.
Who, What, When, Where, Why”
Who (who ooh ooh ooh ooh)
Where (woo ooh ooh ooh ooh)
Why (tell me why, tell me why, tell me why…)
I don’t understand
Let’s sit down and talk
One minute you love me and then you walk
There’s more going on
Than you will admit
‘Cause just as we got it to work you quit
I’m caught in a fog
And you make it clear
The truth won’t be worse than the things I fear
It’s a mystery to me
I haven’t a clue
If somebody else has a part of you
Tell me
Who (who)
What when where why (why)
Who is the guy
What made you need someone new
Tell me
Who what when where why
When did it die
When’d we go wrong
Don’t you lie, tell me why
You won’t be my love
You won’t be my friend
But won’t you at least help me comprehend
What’s happening to me
‘Cause after you go
My one consolation will be to know
The places and names, the reason and rhymes
The facts of the matter and points in time
I tried for your love
But you won’t allow
This guy to do nothin’ but ask you how
And… Who (who)
What when where why (why)
Who is the guy
What made you need someone new
Tell me
Who what when where why
When did it die
When’d we go wrong
Don’t you lie, tell me why
I want you to say
What’s inside your head
Confession is good for the soul it’s said
So start at the top and take it real slow
If you want out, then I have to know
Just… Who (who)
What when where why (why)
Who is the guy
What made you need someone new
Tell me
Who what when where why
When did it die
When’d we go wrong
Don’t you lie, tell me why
But I have to pop in a other song here one that especially resonates with me. It Annie Lennox singing Why. The lyrics of this song are so often the pattern of my life. It a beautiful song. I am stronger now but it’s not always easy to be. So I am reaching out my hand to support anyone out there Male/ Female / Transgender/ Lesbian/ Gay whoever needs support.๐ Be strong be brave be yourself. All the wrongs in life are not always your fault.๐
That I’m sorry for the things I’ve done
But when I start to try to tell you
That’s when you have to tell me
Hey… this kind of trouble’s only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don’t you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That’s why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me…
Why
Why
I may be mad
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you’re thinking
And I’ve heard is said too many times
That you’d be better off
Besides…
Why can’t you see this boat is sinking
(this boat is sinking this boat is sinking)
Let’s go down to the water’s edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
Tell me…
Why
Tell me…
Why
These are the words I never said
This is the path I’ll never tread
These are the dreams I’ll dream instead
This is the joy that’s seldom spread
These are the tears…
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel?
’cause i don’t think you know how I feel
I don’t think you know what I feel
I don’t think you know what I feel
You don’t know what I feel
I can’t remember ever having heard the Manhattan Transfer song, though I might have heard it on their long.ago T.V. show. They were quite big in the early ’80’s with ‘Morse Code Of Love’, among others. I should listen to the Eurythmics quite a whole lot more too~
Annie Lennox is just brilliant ๐๐น
That was a good choice!
Thank you Sis ๐๐
I remember the Manhattan Transfer ๐ I had forgotten about the Annie Lennox song! Thanks for sharing today. Loved it.

Annie is brilliant, I have always loved her , Manhattan Transfer I did like in the 70’s. ๐๐
New songs to me but good ones!
So glad you liked them ๐, I especially love the Annie Lennox song ๐
We are partial twins today. I picked Manhattan Transfer as well. Great minds think alike ๐
Great songs Willow. Manhattan Transfer was a winner and followed by Annie Lennox was super awesome. She looks so sad getting all dressed up looking in the mirror.
I love that Manhattan Transfer song. As for Annie Lennox she is so expressive , she acts out every song she does.๐น๐น๐น
Like I told Jill, great find, and I love The Manhattan Transfer! As for the Annie Lennox song, I’ve heard it a hundred times before, but never really paid attention to the lyrics, so thanks for that, too.
The Lyrics are so heartfelt, and ..well I won’t go into that ๐น๐น
First time hearing the Manhattan song, not bad. I really like the Annie Lennox one. She’s a very talented songwriter and so gorgeous!

It was touching to read what you wrote about this song, Willow ๐
I mean it and hope if I can show just one person that they are not alone I can sleep easy.๐๐
Walking that path with you. It is the most wonderful thing to do that ๐
Yes indeed it is ๐๐
