Song Lyric Sunday: 23/ 6/2019

This week Jim Adams of. NewEpicAuthor has given us the prompt : Cards/Dice/Gamble/Lose/Win. For our Song Lyric Sunday.

We have guests from Canada so my time blogging is very limited. I am going with the first song that comes into my head this evening.

It’s Lady Gaga with Poker Face my apologies to everyone else who probably picked this one too! Also I may not get around to checking many other posts out. Hopefully I will be back to normal next week πŸ’œ

Apart from anything else I love the video!

Poker Face”

Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah

I wanna hold ’em like they do in Texas, please
Fold ’em, let ’em, hit me, raise it, baby, stay with me (I love it)
Love game intuition play the cards with Spades to start
And after he’s been hooked I’ll play the one that’s on his heart

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh,
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got

[Chorus:]
Can’t read my,
Can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(she’s got me like nobody)
Can’t read my
Can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(she’s got me like nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be
A little gambling is fun when you’re with me (I love it)
Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby when it’s love if it’s not rough it isn’t fun, fun

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh,
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got

[Chorus]

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
(Mum mum mum mah)
(Mum mum mum mah)

I won’t tell you that I love you
Kiss or hug you
Cause I’m bluffin’ with my muffin
I’m not lying, I’m just stunnin’ with my love-glue-gunning
Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, promise this
Check this hand cause I’m marvelous

[Chorus 3x]

[3x]
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

Now we need an old one too

Luck be a Lady Tonight. This version is from the cast of Guys and Dolls at The Old Globe.

Luck Be A Lady”
They call you “Lady Luck”,
But there is room for a doubt.
At times you have a very unladylike way of running out.

You’re on this date with me.
The picking’s have been lush.
And yet before this evening is over you might give me the brush.

You might forget your manners
You might refuse to stay
And so the best that I can do is pray

Luck, be a lady tonight.
Luck, be a lady tonight.
Luck, if you’ve ever been a lady to begin with.
Luck, be a lady tonight.

Luck, let a gentleman see
How nice a dame you can be.
I know the way you’ve treated other guys you’ve been with.
Luck, be a lady with me.

A lady doesn’t leave her escort:
It isn’t fair, it isn’t nice.
A lady doesn’t wander all over the room
And blow on some other guy’s dice.

Let’s keep this party polite,
Never get out of my sight,
Stick with me, baby. I’m the fellow you came in with.
Luck, be a lady tonight.

Luck, let a gentleman see
Just how niceβ€”, how nice aβ€”, a dame you can be.
I know the way you’ve treated other guys you’ve been with.
Luck, be a lady with me.

A lady doesn’t leave her escort:
It isn’t fair, and it’s not nice.
A lady doesn’t wander all over the room
And blow on some other guy’s dice.

So, let’s keep the party polite,
Never get out of my sight,
Stick with me, baby. I’m the guy that you came in with.
Luck, be a lady.
Luck, be a lady.
Luck, be a lady tonight.

Both lyrics from A to Z Lyrics

It’s been awhile since I’d heard ‘Luck Be a Lady’, always a great song.

P-p-p-poker face, good one Willow. So far you are the only one to contribute this awesome song. Thanks for helping me to get my Ga Ga on today.

Frank Sinatra did the version of β€œLuck Be A Lady” I’m most familiar with. Puts one in a β€œVegas, baby!” mood. My stepfather was a huge Damon Runyon fan (he wrote the short stories the musical was based on), so I always think of him when I hear this.

The Gaga one was such a great choice! I had forgotten about it. Also love the inclusion of Guys n Dolls – Luc be a Lady. Wonderful πŸ™‚πŸ’•

So funny, I did not hear this song for quite a while and during the past 2 – 3 days I heard it twice. I love this song!
