The last rays of the sun lit the payphone bronze. Through the dirty window the pool still looked blue. Letters scratched into the glass their meaning long forgotten. Another abandoned motel in the middle of nowhere. No money to use the phone but there was no one to answer it.

but the bar was stocked, and with no one to stop us, we helped ourselves to a few large ones, that Scottish whiskey, man does it taste good, and that’s how I got to like scotch… I soon forgot about the phone, smile, amen.
