Do what you need to
Say what you know to be true.
Break the Devil’s spell.
Do the song birds know
Which way the river will flow
Would they ever say

Unusual Valentine’s Gifts π
I recall the Valentines when I purchased a spud gun, to remind him of his youth! Having heard stories of the fun he and his twin brother had as boys in the sixties. It took time and research on my part to find one.
Beautifully wrapped in brown paper and string in keeping with the times past. Given with a giggle and a kiss that sealed the start of this gloriously decadent day.
For a Valentine should be a measure of your lives a bit of a tickle not too serious, just β¦ fickle. A show of happiness that he already knows and trusts. The receipt of such a gift is unlikely to have ever been given before, like me then, original and unique.
Then came my gift from the husband, not wanting to advertise I will not photograph the wrapping.
A chocolate honeycomb filled Bunny was prestnted to meβ¦

This post is to Celebrate SIPB Birthday Week and Valentine’s Day at Esme’s Salon
Two Valentine Poems from different ends of the spectrum. The first one I wrote in 2013 the second I wrote in 2017.
Valentine’s Day.
Beautiful Roses their message plain,
They were oh! so lovely when they came.
Chocolates and champagne too
A handsome way to say “I love you”
Sadly handsome is as handsome does
And no one wants to make a fuss.
But the message seems to fade away
As tempers rise and peace forgets to stay.
The chocolates fly across the room and hit the wall,
The vase smashed, the flowers scattered as they fall.
No good to offer soothing words
The shoutings all that’s heard.
The neighbours turn a deaf ear , “That poor woman must live in fear” .
Only half the tale is known
The neighbours have no idea of what’s happening in this home.
Things get worse she grabs a knife
She’ll put an end to all this strife.
She cuts him once she cuts him twice …
“You need to learn to be be more nice”
She whispers with a smile.
He stands there shaking and bleeding all the while.
The police have been called more than once
But she always manages to repel their response.
The truth is, they would not believe
This poor sweet woman is not the one aggrieved.
She carries no marks or bruises None at all for she is the one who abuses.
Her husband is a patient man Who tries to please his wife the best he can .
But she cannot be appeased Nothing he can do makes her pleased.
She swears she loves him she swears it will change
But week after week it is the same.
He will do or say something wrong
And her patience will be gone.
He has tried to leave her tried to go
But she begs and weeps and carries on.
She promised she would get help.
He cannot see any way out
He cowers in the corner as she shouts.
The knife is lying on the floor within his reach ………
Then comes the usual banging at the door.

Value added roses and chocolates
All add up to to special dates.
Love encounters special things
Enchanted, petals hearts and fairy rings.
Never knowingly under sold
Treats and treasures gently unfold.
Intimate touches and arousing kisses
Naked passion erupts exploding wishes
Ending orgasmic joy.
