Cathartic

Last year those of you who know/ follow me helped me through the last withdrawal from all pain medication. A few years back I managed to get off of tramadol. That was a long and hard journey but I got there so when it came to getting off of Gabapentin.

I thought this can’t be so hard? It’s a neuropathic painkiller. I had been on it for over eight years I weaned myself down from four times, six hundred mgs a day to one hundred mgs twice a day then finally 100 mgs every other day. With no great help from the doctors who just want to hand them out like sweets to keep me quite.

I kept you informed up to a point until I was taking one 100 mgs morning and night one day and just one 100mgs in the evening on the alternate day. Then down to one pill every other evening. I have said nothing since but I am tablet free and have been over five months now but even more important I am no longer measuring the pill free time.

It is Cathartic ( yes finally I am using the prompt word) to be free of the ties that being addicted to painkillers bring.

Yes, I am free, the physiological freedom, the purging of needing is truly Cathartic. If anyone is going through the same journey I will say it is not easy. Emotions, physical pain and true fear are battles to fight but if I can do it anyone can. I am not pain free but I am drug free.

I have kept quiet about being free of all my medication because at first I was afraid to actually say it out loud, publicly. So please keep it up if you are going through withdrawal of any kind. Drugs, drink, gambling, being in an emotionally bullied situation. Do persevere, do ask for help do let friends and family in. The results are Cathartic.

Thank you all for listen and your support. 💜💜

JusJoJan 2019 Daily Prompt – Jan. 25th

Your prompt for JusJoJan 2019, January 25th is brought to you by JP! Click here to find their last post and say hi while you’re there! JP’s word for our prompt today is “Balance.” Use it anywhere in your post or make it the theme of your post. Have fun!

Balance.

Standing on one foot, striving for body balance was not Gina’s idea of Monday morning fun. Why did she do this to herself, on balance she was useless at these classes but she persisted.

Week after week, rain or shine she went to class, why, it was not as if her life was in the balance. In fact was it really of any importance at all.

Standing there she finally came to the realization that she hated the gym, life was for living not surviving. At this point she lost her balance completely and crashed to the floor. There was a stunned silence in the room. Everyone looked.

Sod this though Gina this is not a balanced way of life I have had enough. She stood up straightened her leggings and walked out never to return.

The following Monday morning she was sat in bed sipping coffee and reading the news, later she had lunch planned with friends then a long dog walk.

Her life was her own no more classes no more gym. Here body balance was perfect.

The women at the gym wondered if she had lost the balance of her mind….. They were just jealous.

Thursday photo prompt: Snowfall #writephoto

This is Sue Vincent‘s Thursday PhotoPrompt,

#writephoto.

Snowfall

The journey had been long and arduous. Travelling through time was wearing on the nerves. So much had changed around him and he had only been able to witness in silence.

So much had happened he’d felt warm and safety of the womb of mother earth. For the longest time he was settled until the great movement had churned up. He and those around him were awoken and cast out. They had lain where they had landed open to weather, wind rain sun and snow.

The animals came first they never caused trouble, occasionally rubbing up against him or sheltering from the sun. The plants also were a pleasure to live alongside. They had colour, they whispered gave shade kept him company. The gentle moss even covered him in green.

Then came the humans they were no trouble at first but they changed, became less animal like and more selfish and destructive. They had moved him him twice to use him as part of a circle. He was bigger then but later they had stolen parts of him to build castles and homes.

He was glad he could still talk to his other selves where ever they were it made him feel safe and whole.

He liked the snow it was soft and gentle. Not like the humans, demanding, waging wars, killing eachother. He had seen dreadful things , killing machines, some throwing bullets or flames. Death dropping out of the skies blood all around.

Not all the humans were bad though he has seen some be kind, even worship him or near him, make love hidden by him, sleep in his shade and even touch and talk to him.

He sighed “I suppose” he said to the tree next to him “I will just go on, I will miss you though”. The tree sighed too. He replied, “I will miss you too old friend but you were here before me, you will stay on.” Gentle letting the snow settle on his limbs the tree continued.”Our feathered friends have taken my seeds and spread me far and wide. So we may meet again, especially if you are moved again.”

The ancient stone looked up at the tree and replied. ” I cannot bear to see you killed, I have seen too many of your kind cut down. I will sleep and when I wake again I wonder what shall I find.” The tree bowed, “Goodbye friend I hope we meet again.”

—————

They came in the night, two humans, a small female and a taller male. They were wise in the old ways, the stone could tell. They touched him and asked his permission to stand in his shadow. They apologized that they could not stop the developers from moving him and chopping down the tree. They did not think it was progress. The stone assured them he would survive.

————–

In the morning the bulldozers came. They cut the tree down, the stone was asleep, deeply asleep so as not to see or hear his friend being killed. The snow fell.

Zoomie

Your

Kiss set me

High and Zoomie

Blowing away the

Sad, tired and gloomy

Rainbow colours opened

New, bright horizons for me

Suddenly all the darkness flew

South like geese all flappy and Zoomie

Say you will stay and make my life Zoomie.

Me

” Yes almost, not quite 100% yet”

Pilates Teacher.

“Well if you ever make 100% let me know I have never felt it”

What???

Cry for Help.

Cry For Help.

Help she screamed I cannot cope

No one turned no one spoke

Help he pleaded I am depressed

No one listened or her pain redressed

Help she begged I can’t go on

No one heard above their lala song

Help someone it hurts me so

No one bothered, as she swam against the flow

Help she whispers as ended her life

No one reached out to save her from strife

She said no more, she had died

No one noticed no one cried.
