Don’t
Ignore
Me because
I am old. I
was once bright and bold.
I had a full life once
I was loved and desired too
Spending my time much like you do
I am not stupid, I am not slow
In this old shell there’s a person you know.
So do not dismiss me right out of hand.
I fought for your future in this land.
Your life may not be as it is
Don’t ignore me, don’t dismiss
Respect is all I ask
Is helping me such
An awful task
Kindness is
All I
Ask

Thank you Sue, I only just saw that you had Reblogged it. It posted itself while I was out with friends..
I must of inadvertently touched the phone in my bag. I am glad I had finished composing it and that it made sense. Thank you again ππ it a subject I deeply care about. Suddenly people become invisible and a bother when they get old and their memory fades. It is so sad. ππ

I agree…and it is a time when they have so much wisdom to share… we lose a great deal by allowing older people to vanish within our disconnected society. x

It is stupidity and ignorance really. Even worse people can be down right cruel to the old.ππ

Yes, Willow. We still can grow in many ways. The MONEY magazine featured a 100 years old man still running in race. I’m going to read about it. β€
