Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 106, “Ghost and Hollow,” #SynonymsOnly

This is my entry for Colleen Chesebro of The Fairy Whisper‘s blog Tuesday Tanka Challenge. I have written an Autumnal Cinquain and a Halloween Etheree.

Leaves fall

Softly, silent

Like phantoms in the mist

The del’s full of the spirit of

Autumn.

———–

Dense

The mist

Hallowed ground

Long dead spirits

Wake to move around

None have a beating heart

Nor a conscience to be found

All lost souls their bodies are void

Endless chill invades their empty souls

Their time is now Autmn and Halloween.

Twittering Tales #106 – 16 October 2018

This is my entry for Kat Myrman of Like Murcury Colliding Twittering Tales.

Window Dressing.

Gabriel was looking blank, “where’s your face gone?” asked a smiling Satan. No answer came.
St Peter found Azriel in Harrod’s window .”It’s okay son you’re not in trouble we all know who put you up to this. Sadly Gabriel’s nose looks a tad worse for wear.” There’ll be hell to pay.

Scary October 16

Here we are at the unholy month of October. I thought I would do a paranormal, witchy, unholy bunch of poems, some new and some old.

Don’t forget to check out Jane Dougherty and Kat Myrman‘s plans for this month!

Today’s poem is a little Halloween twist.

Scare Night.

Her footsteps

A lonely tin rolls across the car park
The wind is up and it is getting dark
Turning her collar up against the rain
Walking the way she always does, again

Her footsteps match her heart beat
Hurrying towards the light of the street.
Icy cold she begins to shiver
No umbrella she wished she had it with her.

A sound behind her makes her jump
Bringing to her throat a painful lump.
Terror and panic have her in their grasp
Searching for her key, fighting with her handbag clasp.

The street light flickers and goes out
She is scared now no doubt!
Sweat runs down her face
Her heart running wild , such a pace

Suddenly the door opens and
A huge and pale Vampire stands
He’s the most scary sight she has seen
Smiling he says “Your late love, Happy Halloween!”
