Song Lyric Sunday. Hide, Hidden, Hiding.

This week our prompt for Helen Vahdati‘s Song Lyric Sunday is Hide, Hidden, Hiding.

Well I like this challenge.

I have chosen first Imogen Heap with Hide and Seek.

Another of my favourite singer songwriter’s clever songs.

Hide and seek

Where are we? What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to fall,
Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling.
Spin me ’round again and rub my eyes.
This can’t be happening.
When busy streets amass with people
Would stop to hold their heads heavy.
Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines.
All those years they were here first.
Oily marks appear on walls
Where pleasure moments hung before.
The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity of this still life.
Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines. (Oh, you won’t catch me around here)
Blood and tears (hearts),
They were here first.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it’s all for the best? Of course it is.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it’s just what we need? And you decided this.
What you say?
Mmm, what did She say?
Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I don’t believe you.
You don’t care a bit. You don’t care a bit.
(hide and seek)

And for good measure an oldie Goldie written by the Beatles. Hey you’ve got to hide your love away. But with a modern twist here it is sung by the great Oasis

Here I stand head in hand
Turn my face to the wall
If she’s gone I can’t go on
Feeling two-foot small
Everywhere people stare
Each and every day
I can see them laugh at me
And I hear them say
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
How can I even try
I can never win
Hearing them, seeing them
In the state I’m in
How could she say to me
Love will find a way
Gather round all you clowns
Let me hear you say
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
Hey you’ve got to hide your love awayere I stand head in hand
Turn my face to the wall
If she’s gone I can’t go on
Feeling two-foot small
Everywhere people stare
Each and every day
I can see them laugh at me
And I hear them say
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away

Hey you’ve got to hide your love away
Hey you’ve got to hide your love away

Scary October 14

Here we are at the unholy month of October. I thought I would do a paranormal, witchy, unholy bunch of poems, some new and some old.

Don’t forget to check out Jane Dougherty and Kat Myrman‘s plans for this month!

Today’s poem is another old one of mine. The Crow Queen.

The Crow Queen

Silently falls the snow

No words describe the sound of falling snow

Well, no words that I know. Lightly treads the crow queen. Blood red are her footprints like the petals of a rose.

I don’t know why they are so and neither do the crows!

She been to visit the grave of her human lover,

Who vowed to love her above all other.

Sadly he had lied

Mistreated her and her smallest freedom had denied.

He had paid for this with his life dying at the talons of his crow wife.

She would never forgive the human kind,

Never again trust a man, her trust had almost cost her mind.

Even so she felt grief’s pain Visited his grave again and again.

Her loving crows always accompanied her

Keeping her always in their care.

The humans knew of her visits

Drawing their plans they wished to capture her

To reek revenge and watch her die at their hands.

Yes we are a vengeful race,

We humans are two faced.

God forbid that they catch her as again our name they will disgrace.
