It is August and so Jane is doing : a chain of images each one suggested by the last word in the preceding poem. They’ll be short, a single image of just a few lines. It will be interesting to see where it ends up by the end of the month.
Kat will be doing short 3,4, or 5 line poems no syllable counts of rhymes, starting with the word ‘August’ on the first day. The last word of the poem will be the first word of day two’s poem, and so on until the end of the month.
Finally I shall be doing all types of poetry but each poem will start with the last word in the preceding poem.
Today’s poem is Free Verse
Dust
Filling the cracks and holes.
Healing nothing in its contamination.
A fine film of curruption.

I love the photos you find for your daily poems. There’s a bit of rage in that dust you’re talking about. I live a block away from a rail yard that is home to dozens and dozens of open train cars fill with coal. Our neighborhood is filled with coal dust. Dust to dust to dust.
Aug 11, 2018 @ 04:17:14
Really Kat, is coal used a lot a fuel, we don’t seem to use it much these days in the UK. I do remember though as a child, the steam trains, and the coal dust! 💜💜
Aug 11, 2018 @ 12:16:18
Well…if our president has his way we will go back to using more coal. We have all this “clean coal” propaganda flying about to make his case. Someone must be using it because there is a steady stream of rail cars full of the stuff passing through town. I take issue with the “clean” spin they give it. Black coal dust finds its way through the cracks of my old house, settling on window ledges and flat surfaces. Not to mention what we likely breathe of it from the air! 😳
