This week Helen Vahdati has given us the word Dreams for this weeks Song Lyric Sunday.
Helen says she remembers most of her dreams and most of them are unsettling or bad. I can empathize with that as, especially at the moment I am experiencing the same.
Well I have been thinking about this since last night. Many songs come to mind but two stand out for me. The first of my two choices is Eurythmics and Sweet Dreams.
“Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)”
“Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)”
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something
Hold your head up, keep your head up, movin’ on
Hold your head up, movin’ on, keep your head up, movin’ on
Hold your head up, movin’ on, keep your head up, movin’ on
Hold your head up, movin’ on, keep your head up
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody’s looking for something
For my second choice I have picked Susan Boyle‘s first audition for the Britain’s Got Talent. She sings “I dreamed a dream”. This is a dream come true on so many levels, this lovely lady has Asperger’s syndrome. She is not what the panel or the audience expects they are almost sneering at her. Until she sings… then her dream comes true. The audience, panel and everyone at home are in the palm of her hand. Susan Boyle is the dream.
“I Dreamed A Dream”
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I prayed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hopes apart
And they turn your dreams to shame
Still I dream he’d come to me
And we would live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I’m living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed
The song is from Les Miserables which is my favourite musical!
And so to dream, Helen and everyone sweet dreams.
