Deep Thoughts.

Ifs and buts.

Don’t you find it funny that sometimes when we read our Blogily friends posts that a theme is there screaming at you. Well today is one of those days and the themes are ‘second chances’, ‘why we are who we are.’ and ‘choices’

I shall be the first to admit I have made some catastrophic life decisions in my time. I have made some good ones too, so why is it today I feel trapped and lost? Maybe it is this weird bug I have making me feel low or it could be the fact that I am cutting out the last of my neuropathic pain killers. This has been a three year struggle. I had got down to one in the morning and one at night equalling 600mgs a day which was no mean feat as I was taking 2400 mgs to start with and that was for six years. Anyway I am try to get rid of them completely and so started reducing the dose again am down to 400mgs a day and when I feel a little more myself I shall drop to 300mgs and so on, fingers crossed. It has not been easy.

Ah! I digress, Sue Vincent spoke of how things we learn , consciously and unconsciously in our childhood make us who we are. I recognize a lot of what she says, do read her blog Cold Comfort it makes a lot of sense, Sue is a lovely Lady. I was the youngest of a large family born late after an eight year gap to my next brother and fourteen years between me and my eldest sister. I spent a lot of time alone almost a only child and I bullied at school.

Then there was Ritu’s Spidey yes they got me thinking about how whatever life throws at you , you have the choice to make it good or bad. How life can be changed in a second but then there is always tomorrow. We must make the most of every second because we do not know when time will run out. Read Ritu’s post here at Spidey’s Serene Sunday. Right now I don’t feel like living for the moment but I know I should.

Also another blog that spoke to me and very much touched on how I feel right now was Michael at Morpethroad, read his #SoCs post Doors . Michael writes some brilliant post but this one!

There are many times in our lives where we could have changed things I look back and think if only I had stood up and said something. I should of done this that or the other BUT if only doesn’t mean diddly squat the fact is I didn’t, for what ever reason I didn’t.

Is the dye cast, I don’t know. I hope not. There are some family issues that are giving me much grief but when ever I intervene things get worse. Anyway that is not a subject I would burden you guys with.

So what do I say now, where do I take this post. I think I should stop now and go for the safe ‘least said soonest mended ‘ safety net. I hope this has not been a ‘poor me fest’ I did not mean it to be.

Please read the posts I have linked they are so thought provking. If you have any advice, kicks up the bum or just want to share how you feel or have felt I shall be interested to hear what you have to say.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday. Through the Door

It’s Saturday again and that means it’s SoCs. So LindaGHill of A Life In Progress has told us that our prompt is to tell everyone about a Door, that is not our own, that they have walked through this week. Main rule is have fun.

Rules and Pingback Here

My head was thumping and my chest hurt from a deep hacking cough, I felt rough. Yet there was the purple door infront of me. It would be rude not to enter.

Turning the handle I felt a blast of freezing air…. Oh! It’s so cold! Someone handed me a ski jacket and salopetts and a pair of snowboard boots?

The doorway had long gone when I glanced behind me. Well I had to put the snow gear on or freeze. A union jack wooly hat and helmet and goggles then I was handed a pair of gloves and a snowboard!

OMG! It looked like I was one mile off the ground a snow covered slope sped away from me and what looked like a tiny landing spot below. So many people all looking tiny.

A bell went off and I was off down the slope up the jump and then I did a Bloody Dracula landed bang! A cheer went up I had scored 95.5 and I was still standing!

The I woke up in bed to see this!

The Bloggers Bash Blog Post Competition

Geoff with great news!

TanGental

The Venue; the place to win your prize!!

The Bloggers Bash writing competition was so popular last year that the committee is bringing it back (with a slight difference) for 2018.

As you may have noticed, there’s another exciting event happening in London the same day as our Bloggers Bash. Although it won’t be as much fun as our event, the news of a Royal Wedding has undoubtedly given us a lot to think about.

So, the Bloggers Bash Blog Post Competition 2018 is on the theme of ‘Royalty.’ You’ve got a maximum of 300 words to share a flash fiction story, anecdote, poem, or another piece of work or writing on the theme of royalty. You might be inspired by Harry and his princess, or by the venue of this year’s Bloggers Bash (George IV). Or you might have another idea in mind. If you’re a photographer, then publish…

Enough is Enough

Just seven weeks into 2018 and there have been eight shooting attacks on US schools. Not taking in account any other gun crimes. This cannot be right?

Sue Vincent’s Thursday Photo Prompt Dusk #writephoto

My entry to Sue Vincent of Daily Echo#writephoto Prompt. Dusk.

Rules and Pingback Here

Dusk

As dusk gave way to night so Mathew joined the throng of young Vampires on the shore. He blended in well even though he was hundreds of years their senior. Settling in among the crowd he closed his mind to their jubinle chatter, opening it to hear the words of the Old Ones.

Again Mathew found himself standing on the beach looking out to sea with the silver moonbeams dancing out to the horizon. Thankfully he thought to himself he was not alone and in anguish as he had been on previous occasions.

The atmosphere was relaxed he could feel the confidence and foolhardiness of youth all around him. Luckily he had all his senses honed and ready for the slightest hint of danger. Suddenly a black pair of wings flashed past his face, he was just about to grab at the crow when it turned and looked him in the eye and told him that Roman and the elders were coming this way and to take cover.

At that second a young female grabbed at the crow, Mathew flicked her out of the way grabbing the crow and whispering in her ear, “you do not want the crow” she smiled and turned away. Mathew threw the bird into the air, just in time to see the Old Ones coming his way. Quickly Mathew melted into the crowd, hiding his thoughts from Roman.

As the Old Ones past Roman lifted his hand and all four of them stopped without a word they scanned the crowed beach. “There is something” said Roman, “I can’t place it … I can feel it though” Q the darker of the two female elders waved a gloved hand at him, “It is excitement” she said “Come on” she said “We need to mobilize our troops”

Roman sniffed the air, took two steps towards Mathew before Q angrily shouted at Roman to “Come on!”

The Old Ones moved to the dunes to oversee and address the gathering. From this vantage point Roman thought for a fleeting second he saw a crow in the sky, he dismissed the thought. Looking out on all the Vampires from all four houses he felt a feeling he had forgotten excitement.

This was the eve of the war.

The Old Lie

Read , understand and learn .

charles french words reading and writing

Please, in the name of the victims of the most recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida, let us begin to do something to change the national insanity of gun deaths.

Stop with the old lie — “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” It is illogical, fallacious, wrong, and stupid. Guns are weapons and are designed to expel bullets that are intended to kill. That is their purpose. That is why they exist.

Guns kill people.

Guns are not used to make paintings; they are not used to drive screws into wood; they are not made to make omelets; they are not created to write letters; and they are not aimed at making sculptures.

Guns are made to kill. That is their purpose.

The United States has a history of gun ownership based on the 2nd Amendment. As  I would say to my students, please do a close reading, parse…

You just have to love this 💜

Lucy and Bailey

“Hey, Lucy. The sun is out.”

“Wa—huh. Oh, it’s you, Boss.”

“Come on let’s go outside.”

“Aw Boss. You know I’m still recovering from that teeth extravaganza.”

“How about you Bailey?”

“How about you Bailey what Pops?”

“Outside. You and me. Toss around the old tennis ball.”

“Mmm. Sounds delightful but I’ll pass.”

“Here. Take this toy. We’ll play fetch.”

“Gee Pops. Ever hear of siesta.”

“Sure, but you know I have a post tomorrow and I thought we could get some photos of a man and his dogs having a great time.”

“Hey, Lucy. You hear Pops. You in?”

“Oh yeah. I have the toy which you tucked under my paw. Now if I could only get up and take it to you, Boss.”

“Okay, you two. I can see we are going to have to spin this story in a different direction.”

“What are you doing, Pops?

“Bringing out the props.”

“There…

Watch the wall.

I wrote this post back in November 2012 after the school Massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. There have been more massacres since. Nothing has changed nothing has been done… WHY?

So I am going to post it again six years on, how many more times will I have to post it?

Watch the wall my Darlings.

Watch the wall my darlings as the gunman passes by, hush now everyone he will double back and kill us if he hears you cry.

No I don’t think he cares that guns are not allowed and I know he will not stop to think before firing into a crowd.

Try not to whimper as he will hear that too he has shot your little friends for less and he will do the same to you.

Here, cuddled up to me my darlings lets all play sleeping lions please keep calm or we will become more statistics in this crime.

Yes those are your friends my darlings but we cannot help them now. You are in my care here and to keep you safe I vow .

Who is he is my darlings I have no idea, but we need not think of him, he is of no consequence my dear.

What is important is that you stay here with me and make no noise for him to hear.

Oh! yes. Watch the wall my darlings as the gunman passes by,

Hush now everyone, he will double back and kill us if he hears you cry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In light of the shooting in Newton America I wrote the above poem. I wrote it out of respect for the teachers and children that were murdered and all the relatives left behind to wonder why.
The media should not give the murder any air time he should should not be named . This only encourages the next mad man or woman to out do him. Gun laws need to be stricter and no one needs a gun in their home. Mental health needs to have more funds pumped into it so these people can be found and treated before they cause such grief.
Lets us not forget the first victim his mother. 14th December 2012
Another year another tragedy just one of many.
2018.
