Enough is Enough

Just seven weeks into 2018 and there have been eight shooting attacks on US schools. Not taking in account any other gun crimes. This cannot be right?

Enough is Enough

Politicians all filibuster

NRA offer money to muster

Votes for prolifiration of the gun

This can’t be right, should not be done.

Open up your eyes you are not fools

Children no longer safe in your schools.

Two many times the gunchild does their walk

It’s time for action not for talk.

Ban the rifle ban the gun

2nd Amendment has had its run

Listen to what the students shout

Please let comon sense out.

Indeed it does and we need to pray it doesn’t happen here.๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

Prayers just aren’t enough, the mentality of the American people needs to change, the mind set that still lives in the wild west when it was ok to carry a gun continues in the second amendment which is defended by too many voters. Much like here in the UK when ever there is another child murdered or abused the papers and politicians trot out the usual “lessons will be learnt” clichรฉ but we don’t as in America; the gun lobby has too much influence and pays too much to support politicians and like the tobacco companies no one is going to refuse money for their parties. Perhaps the generation of the children murdered will take a stand because as we’ve already seen with the #blacklivesmatter there isn’t a willingness to change for the better. That’s rather cynical and a bleak outlook but hopefully things will improve.

Well said willow, its ludicrous to see it happening over and over. I read this interesting article this morning:

Thank you Michael I have just finished reading this. I have been researching over the last few days. Enough is Enough is the second poem I have put up on this sad mad state of affairs. I also posted Watch the Wall, about Sandy Hook and reposted that as it seemed relevant. Sadly money, guns and mad politicians seem to be the order of the day. … Arm the teachers… What more proof of idiocy is needed. I am just off to bed as I am unwell so will have to end the discussion now but will discuss another time. Hugs ๐Ÿ’œ be safe ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒน

Oh! Tess, it is so lovely to hear from you. Unfortunately on such a sad subject. I am not sticking my nose in but it has to stop, the politicians , money makers, NRA and gun lovers must see sense. Be well and safe.๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

It might just be “enough” when some of the children of NRA officials stop bullets. Brutal thought – but nothing teaches as that which hurts one’s own.

Another wonderful and moving poem, Willow. I hope something is done but I fear it won’t be as money rules everything and everyone it seems.

I agree dear friend. Enough is enough. When your children are not safe. What kind of world do we live in?

Trump is the first president to listen to the victims and to make proposals โ€“ which Congress will have to act on โ€“ to regulate guns. I would love to see bump stocks and semiautomatic weapons banned, the age to own a gun raised to 21 (why not 25) except for the military, and more extensive background checks required, including a medical release (which might weed out the unstable). Who knows โ€“ Congress is full of wusses and swamp people.
